conqueso
I get this error trying to launch Home Designer after updating my computer's operating system to Windows 10. The System Requirements page on the website says it should be compatible. What is the problem?
Solution katalyst777 Posted August 12, 2015 Solution Share Posted August 12, 2015 http://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-03008/message-attempt-to-write-a-read-only-database.html If you have recently upgraded your Microsoft operating system, the most common reason for receiving this error is that there was an issue migrating the directory permissions forward correctly. If this is the case, to correct the issue please see Microsoft knowledge base article #2623670; scroll down to the Resolution section for Issue 3 entitled "I cannot open a file or folder after I upgrade to a new version of Windows."Note: The resolution steps for Windows 8 also apply to Windows 10, although the Microsoft article had not yet been updated as of the creation of the Chief Architect article.

katalyst777
Excellent! I think more people are going to be upgrading to Windows 10 in the near future, so it's good to know that this can happen.
conqueso
That is true, I had it happen on both my desktop and my laptop so I guess it's a pretty common occurance.
