CobblerBill
I am planning to design a one room addition to a small house but wish to show the existing structure as part of the plan, since I obviously want to be able to visualize what the addition will look like. I would like to exclude the existing structure from the material list automatically generated by the program. Does Home Designer Suite allow me to do that? Kbird1
Some versions of the software allow you to do a calc. based on Room or Area though I don't know if Suite is one of them? however I think Room , only includes things inside the Room , not the Structure ie framing inwards starting with the drywall. Best bet is to check your Reference Manual and just try things out. If you don't already own it , then you could try it with the Free Trial or Call / Email Sales too. https://www.homedesignersoftware.com/company/contact.html
solver
I'd make a copy of the plan, then delete the unwanted structure. If you have Edit > Edit Area, you could use that to copy the new part. You might also define different wall types if Suite is capable. Walls that look the same, but use differently named materials so you could tell new vs old in the materials list.
