  1. Yep looks like swarren is right. Using starting a new plan under the default template. I had been using a custom template for a few years so time start a new template using the 2020 default plan I guess. Thanks!
  2. A friend of mine downloaded Pro 2020 a couple weeks ago and I noticed there were several more room types than my software (clearly remember a Bonus Room option). I upgraded to 2020 from 2019 but did not get any additional room types. Any clue how one version has them but mine doesn't?
  3. So after getting to that point, is it as simple as creating a ceiling plane from the interior wall up to the flat ceiling?
  4. How do I create a cathedral ceiling with a flat ceiling plane in the center when one of the bearing walls is exterior and the other is interior? I'm also curious how this gets done in a vaulted ceiling application where both bearing walls are interior walls. This is an easy task when both bearing walls are exterior; however I haven't been able to figure it out when one or both bearing walls are interior. In my first attempt, I used the ceiling plane tool to create a plane with a slope of 0" and then manipulate the height of the room; however, I couldn't get it to attach to the underside of the roof or the ceiling plane bearing on the interior wall so I must've been way off trying to create it that way. 5. Is it possible to use the center objects tool to center objects (usually windows/doors) vertically? Aligning garage windows with the rest of the house, for example, I always have to "eyeball" it in the elevation view. Is there any method or tool to do this quicker and more accurately?
  6. In the elevation view, I've checked the windows to make sure the label isn't suppressed. I've also checked the Layer Display Options and check the window and door label layers to display. Is it simply not possible to have labels show up in elevation views? I know I could manually label them with text, but it seems to me like it should be able to display.
  7. Is it possible? I like using the rail wall type since it places posts and rail sections automatically; however, the only part lacking is the inability to locate posts in floorplan view or elevation view. Is there a solution for this or am I just going to have to bite the bullet and start placing posts/columns manually? JUMANJI FB.plan
  8. It appears the software centers the label on the plane, but that's a problem when there is a gable or dormer is also centered. Edit: If y'all have a better way to do roof plans I'd love to hear those as well.
  9. I'm starting this thread as a resource for myself and others. I'm a one-man operation drawing simple plans as a side gig/marketing gimmick for my building supply. I'm tired of professional printers screwing up my larger, 18x24, prints so I'm in the market for a large format printer under 1k. Does anybody have any reviews, knowledge, or experience with these products? I figured it might be helpful to have a thread on this considering many of us on this board are amateurs and don't do the volume to justify a several thousand dollar investment. If this isn't where this belongs feel free to redirect me. I've been looking at the HP DesignJet T120, but does anybody have any other recommendations or thoughts on this printer? Or large-format printers in general? https://www8.hp.com/us/en/large-format-printers/designjet-printers/t120.html
  10. Thanks, that led me to the fix. Both planes on that gable were set to the default overhang. Obviously, that one eave was not actually reflecting the default overhang. So I unchecked the default setting and manually entered the default overhang length. Problem solved.
  11. Is there a way to adjust size/appearance of boxed eave? I've got one that is larger than the rest and I can't see a way to adjust it without adjusting the baseline of the roof plane. PETTY ROOF.plan
  12. Has anybody modeled anything with a roof like the building pictured? Specifically The exaggerated soffit area and how it also joins the roof return at the corners of the gables. I experimented on a simple gable structure, using the upper pitch option, but couldn't make it work.
  13. Anybody know what the solution is to creating a room above a porch? I've been creating porches via the knowledge base instructions (drawing the perimeter w/ the rail tool, select area, designate as porch) but the space above is never able to be selected. In the plan I've attached, the closest I've gotten is just drawing walls connecting the main body of the house to the gable wall above the porch on level 2, then making the wall separating the porch area from the main body of the house invisible. This way I can at least manipulate everything toward the inside of the house, but I still can't do anything with the area above the front porch. BRANDAN BROWN ROOF.plan
  14. I'm working on a plan and trying to get the wall coverings in the gables to be most of the way up the gable similar to this sample picture I've attached. After adding a wall covering in the gable, it won't display. I've never had this problem before (also never tried to do a look like this) so I'm sure I have a setting wrong somewhere. While I'm creating a thread, I've also struggled with the overhang/roof return that runs along the left side of the porch. I'm getting much more comfortable with manual roof tools, but modeling this part is a bit over my head at this point. It's just sloppy the way I have it right now but any help on how to create this look would be much appreciated. TERRY TEAT.plan

    Odd Boxed Eaves

Just stumbled across this thread. Where is the setting for boxed eaves?

    Flared Steps

Of course its something simple, Thanks Jo!

    Flared Steps

I'm working on creating a set of flared steps for the front porch to this house. I've used the flare step tool; however, I can't get them as flared as the steps shown in the picture. Is there something I'm missing? Or is there a better method altogether to get the steps to be flared out this much? LYNN PLAN 1.plan
  18. Yep it was temporary dimensions. Learn something new about this program every day. Thanks for the help guys.
  19. Normally when I select a wall to be moved, dimensions appear, which I click and adjust to get a wall in the right location. I started 2 plans yesterday and both plans will not display dimensions when I'm moving an interior wall that doesn't connect to an exterior wall. I've attached a snip of the problem and the plan. This has been aggravating so far because I have to manually create a dimension first before moving the wall accurately. Or auto dimension a room and spend a lot of time deleting all of the duplicate dimensions. I figured this may be a setting problem from my default blank plan template I use, but I just tested that by opening a blank plan and I'm still having the same problem. COMER PLAN.plan
  20. Is there a way to make stairs going from the ground up to a porch or deck display with the main floor layer and not the foundation layer?
  21. I put in a single exposed truss on the front porch that appears okay until I created an elevation. It still displays just fine in perspective and orthographic views. Any idea? GILLIAM.plan
