I found a tutorial on sending an elevation to the layout and see where I was going wrong.  Yes sending an image is not a good idea.

    Thanks

I just resized the image using the Transform and Replicate function.  There are no settings I can change in the Send to Layout dialog screen -- the Current Screen as Image radio button is not changeable.  I didn't change any settings (as I couldn't) and got different results for each elevation.

  3. I created a front elevation view and sent it to the layout with the Send as Image box checked.  It fit to the page just fine.  Now I created a rear elevation and did the same thing but the image on the layout is 10 times too large compared with the front elevation. Any idea what's going on?
    Thanks

I just deleted the front elevation and sent it again and now it's 10 times too large. !!!

  4. I cannot tell with precision from two images but my best guess is that your roof planes are "coffering" the ceiling (placing an angle into the otherwise flat ceiling"). Those lines are on a named layer in "Display Options" called "Ceiling Break Lines". Those lines cannot be "selected" or deleted but they can, via "Display Options" be turned on or off. Check it out.

That's exactly what it was and I turned it off even though it was marked as not present in the drawing.

  5. I have all of a sudden a dotted line appear and I cannot fathom out what it is.  All I know that if I break a wall thus eliminating a space the line disappears.  Can anyone let me know what it is so I can either turn its layer off of delete it.  See screen shots below the line in question is the one closest to the inside face of the wall.

    Thanks

Well I already added them manually.  When I have finished these house plans for my contractor, I'll do a test house to see if it's endemic.

Sorry I mispoke -- I meant to say it didn't put any sole plates on the garage exterior foundation walls.  It put sole plates on the rest of the foundation walls.

  8. I have a house with an attached garage and crawl space.  When I let the program do the first floor  framing it doesn't put any sole plates on the exterior walls.  This isn't normal and I'm wondering if I missed a setting somewhere to tell it do do so.

  9. I am preparing a building plan for my contractors framing crew so it shows studs only.  There are several windows that are three windows mulled together.  How can I show only the rough openings for these windows?  Do I just bump them together and show the size of each window and let the framing crew figure out the total opening for all three?
    Thanks

  10. My contractor wants the door and window label to be in inches only.  The default format is feet and inches.  For example for a 32" wide door 80" high the default is  28/68. I need it be 32/80 and I can't seem to find where to change that.

    Thanks

  11. For some reason I had it in my head that skipping the OS update and going directly to the video card manufacturer would void the Mac warranty. Maybe they've changed that in more recent years?

Not at all -- I never heard of that.  I have all the Apple updates yet my video card driver was way out of date so I'm not sure Apple updates it with their updates.

    Alan

  12. Did it word? I didn't think you could update a video card driver on the Mac and it was all just rolled in to OS updates?

So far I haven't had the issue but time will tell.  To update the driver on a Mac go to the video card website (in my case nVidia) and select your card from the drop down lists and click on Download for the Mac version.  I got the 1/25/16 version.

If you have a room with 4 walls of sheetrock why not let the software calculate it.  I believe it will not calculate wall coverings such as wall paper or paint but if you have a custom wall with tile as a layer i believe the Material List should include it.   Also you can use the function shown below:

  14. I was incorrect -- there is no Pella under Doors and Windows.  Either the manufacturer asks CA not to let HD Pro users have access or CA decides not to.  When I contacted Pella they said that they do not provide the calibz files for HD Pro.

  15. Please look at the screen shot.  There some lines visible that will only turn off when the external wall is set to No Room Definition.  I have this on one other space only.

Any idea what they are and how can I get rid of them?
    Thanks
