Spent almost a week trying to get Materials List that a local lumber yard could use, but HDP 2023 offers no way to round up to standard lumber sizes that works. Thought the Buy List would do this, but apparently not. So keep getting the type of info below, and no way to control it. Could import the data into a spreadsheet and go item by item, but that will take hours. Frankly disappointed this has not been fixed, or users been given a way to set the parameters that work. Examples: 1 1/8" x 11 7/8" - 23.838542' 2 1/2" x 11 7/8" - 33.71875' 1 1/2" x 11 1/8" - 8.416667' I was certified in BIM (Building Information Modeling) back in 2010. Thought by now it would better than this, especially in software such as CA or it's lite version, HDP.

It seems to be implied by the website promo, but not seeing anything specific. Anyone from CA want to clarify? tks

I don't understand why not creating Display sets within the Layers panel is not an option. Should be a button for "Creating Display Set". One could then save different sets, increasing productivity and not having to learn workarounds.This would seem to be obvious to anyone who's worked in CAD professionally. Pretty strange that it's not an option. Sure would make things a lot easier when it comes to creating readable drawings for the different trades. The lack of this option, and poor Layout ability really is aggravating, especially since HDP does so many other things very well, Worked in Revit professionally and it could learn a thing or two from HDP, but HDP needs to go back and revisit some basic CAD functionally it's missing. Betting it's an option in CA......

Also have this issue. HDP doesn't seem to offer much in the way of linetypes as do other CAD programs, so just use dashed lines and Callouts.to tell the contractors what you want. If you can print in color, that can help too. Residential subs will do what they assume/know unless you communicate ahead of time what/why you want something done a certain way. We designed/built our own house and despite giving the framers specific dimensions on window heights, they set some windows too high and others too low. In the kitchen, the lowered windows would not meet code for receptacles and forced us to built a bar, which totally changed the room function. Once the bar was installed, wanted the sink to be installed in the direction of the TV, since going to have to wash dishes/cook. Drew the lines on the floor for the plumber as to which direction. What did the plumber do? He decided to do just the opposite, saying "who wants to be facing the TV?". The windows that were too high violated fire code and county told us to build in a seat under the window so fireman could have something to step on if having to enter the 2nd flr window. Have many more stories like this. So put what you want but go over with subs and BE THERE! Spent a few years in Alaska has a kid. Wanna go back before I die.
