Thank you for the explanation and the videos. I will watch the videos in a bit. I think I might just turn off the project management feature for now. I don't share the Plan or layout files with anyone. I always export the layout pages as a PDF file to share with clients. I may have more questions after I watch the videos and try a few things. Thank you for the help!

Hello, I just upgraded to Home Designer Pro 2026 from HD Pro 2024. I'm confused about the Project Management/Project Browser tab. I don't know what the pros and cons are of that and it is currently turned on. I currently store my projects on One Drive to conserve space on my computer, but I don't seem to have the option to save a project there now. I often save a plan as a different name and then make some changes so I have 1-2 options for my clients when they aren't sure what they want. It seems like now I have to import a plan into the project browser and then can only save it on the project browser. Should I just turn it off? I've only opened 1 plan for myself, so far, but I have other plans I need to start or continue working on and this seems really unhandy. Or maybe I just don't understand it. Also, I tried changing a material and in the preview box with the teapot, everything is very grainy. I can't really see it all. What is the problem with that? I tried updating my computer. I have a Mac mini (Apple M2, 16 GB) macOS Tahoe Version 26.1 Please help! As of right now, I'm regretting the upgrade! In the past, I've been happy with the upgrades I've bought even with a few things being slightly different.

Cathedral ceiling always shows a drywall gap between ceiling and wall

That was it. Rookie65 Keith, you helped me think it through. -
Cathedral ceiling always shows a drywall gap between ceiling and wall

I clicked and unclicked the auto rebuild roof. I am wondering if my problem is that I only drew the kitchen and 3 of the walls are interior, not exterior. I am only working on the kitchen for this house, so I did not want to take the time to draw more of it. I think that's the problem. I will just draw any walls around the kitchen and hopefully that will fix it. Thanks! -

I unchecked soffit surface for ceiling. No change. -
That worked! I don't know why I have had that problem with the custom countertop being raised to sit on top of the other countertop before, but it's not happening now. Thank you Jo_Ann! Such an easy fix.
-
Do you mean I can draw over the countertop that is already on the cabinets? I think I have tried that before and it raises the height. I will try putting the countertop back on.
-
I have been having issues with inserting a sink or a cooktop into a custom countertop at the correct height. When I am building an island with a half wall, I need to remove the countertops on the cabinets so that I can draw a custom countertop over the cabinets and half wall with an extension for a bar. But when I insert a sink or cooktop over the appropriate cabinet, it lowers to the height of the cabinet instead of flush with the countertop. I do not see any way to adjust the height from the floor of these items so that they are not below the countertop height. What can I do or what am I doing incorrectly?

yes! Did you use a shape?
-
Joann, I need the whole wall to be free of base molding. Your drawing has base molding on either side of the firebox. My fireplace surround goes corner to corner and the base molding was going in front of my surround. I'm going to try to do my surround the way Keith is telling me to do it. I think that might solve my problem. Thank you!

Keith, wow. I've never even noticed shapes on my program before! I will definitely try that. Those shapes may open up a whole new world for me! Thank you.

Keith, I have Home Designer Pro 2024. Apparently, my soffit does not have the option at all. It's not the end of the world. I would like for it to look better with the the crown molding for the client, but I might not have that option.
-
Keith, I will try that. Hopefully the base molding with not try to wrap around the sides.
-
Jo_Ann, no, the current firebox is 6" off the floor.
-
Jo_Ann, I can do that for the entire room, but not just that one wall.
-
Ok. I can see what I can do with that. I'm a bit confused about what you are saying, but a soffit always comes in handy.
-
It looks great when I turn off the molding in the room, but then I lose the crown.

IMG_9532.heic This is the fireplace surround That I was copying.

I assume you are talking about the fireplace. I probably didn't do it the "right" way. I drew a small room out from the wall to make the fireplace (it's see-through) then I put a pass through on both sides and deleted the middle wall. That might not be what you are talking about, but that's what I started with. Then I put a 1 1/4" shelf across the wall and changed the material to a granite. I put 2 partitions the same height and width as the shelf and changed that material to the same granite. then I did a wall covering of the same granite that is the same height as the shelf.

This topic is pretty old, but I'm having a similar issue. There is a box I can check on the wall specification for "No Room Moldings Exterior" and the same for "Interior" that removes all the moldings. I want to keep the crown, though, just not the base molding. There doesn't seem to be a way to do that. Any ideas?

Thanks! I'll have to try it and see if I can follow these directions and get it to work.

That does sound like a lot of work! Probably more than I want to do right now. And yes, I did those shapes on the elevation with a CAD shape and copy & paste. I think for now, my solution will be to have them on the elevation and put a picture on the layout sheet for the cabinet maker. Thanks Jo_Ann!

Here is what I came up with on the elevation, but I wish I could make it show up on the 3D view.
-
Is there a way to show vent holes in cabinet doors in the 3D view? I'm wanting to do something like this on a pantry and I can't find a door style anywhere that has anything like this. I know it's not common, but I would like to do this. I might just have to draw it in on the elevation. I anyone knows another way, please let me know.
