Thanks Keith. Yes, I considered using a tilted shape to mimic the hopper. I will play around with it. Pro 2020 already has the ability to show cabinet doors both opened or closed

I understand your premise, however not everyone who uses the software does so to create 2D drawings for building purposes. I am an interior decorator and all of my clients are "non-professionals" who engage my services purely to visualise their designs. My shared work is all purely 3D. So, in my case there is a NEED to have a fully functional cabinet in 3D, particularly as this client has requested to see each of her proposed cabinets both opened and closed. It's not a huge issue and I know there are some work arounds, I just wanted to ask here first. Yes, it would be great to have Chief but at over 3K I simply can't afford it at the moment. Thank you.

Thanks. Yes, I still have Pro 2020. I can't justify the cost of all the constant upgrades in AUD, it's really expensive. So is this in Chief?

Hi all. Just wondering what would be the best way to create a tilt out cabinet door like this? Obviously it's not difficult to create a bottom hinged door, but what about the internals? Would I have to add something completely manually then adjust the angle each time I want to show the door open or closed? I am trying to make a potting cabinet with two soil containers like attached. Thanks so much.

Hi all. Can anyone offer some assistance in helping me rectify this mess of a corner I've created. As you can see, nothing lines up quite right and there is roof showing through the wall. I've tried a few things though each change I make seems to impact something else, then I end up with more problems I don't know how to best resolve. Any advice greatly appreciated. Rebecca.plan

Thank you so much. That's really helpful. I will take a look and see how it goes.

I'm going to preface this by unashamedly admitting it may be a stupid question, however I'm asking in the hopes of being educated... Lately I've seen a lot of new interior design programs emerging which offer "4K" rendering options which look incredibly realistic. I'm really happy with Home Designer and its level of flexibility so don't wish to change at this stage, however am wondering if there is some kind of avenue to import models into a rendering generator which could produce more photo realistic images? I believe Chief has the power to produce slightly more realistic renders than Home Designer due to its ray tracing capability, however from everything I've seen it's still not comparable to some of the new programs I've learned about (and I sadly can't justify the expense of upgrading to Chief anyway). I feel I've become quite proficient with adapting lighting/shadows/materials etc. in order to make the most of what Home Designer offers, however it still feels lacking to me in regard to realism and ultimate "wow" factor (have attached a snippet from a recent design I've been working on). I've tried researching this though it's all over my head and very confusing for someone who is essentially fully self-taught and a stay-at-home mum designer! Any information or insight would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Thanks so much. I really appreciate your replies.

Sorry, I mainly use the program for interior decorating (so purely visual) and aren't very familiar with exteriors. I usually just paint materials on which doesn't effect thickness. So I need to set the wall material somewhere?
-
Thanks. Have you just off-set the walls? I can play around with this though I'm still not sure how to achieve the recessed siding areas above the ground level windows?
-
What is the best way to go about recreating this exterior in terms of the areas which are raised (brick) and recessed (siding)? Particularly the areas of siding above the lower ground windows. I originally drew it out roughly with regular straight exterior walls then realised when I went to apply materials that I'd missed the variation in depths. Played around with some options though just ended up making a mess! Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks so much. My sideways thinking wasn't working well. I ended up importing a bi-fold door symbol and using that though this is a much better method.
-
Hi all. Is there a way to make cabinet doors bi-fold? I am trying to re-create something like this. Thanks.

Quick question...is there a way to modify the style of internal roll-out shelves? I was wanting roll-out drawers instead (example below). Or will I need to insert them all manually? Thanks.

Jo Ann. I've been playing around with using the Custom Backsplash tool though am having trouble creating a uniform arch. I watched Solver's video and that helped a little but I'm still missing something. Do you mind elaborating on how you created your fretwork arches please?
-
Thank you Solver and JoAnne. I will need to have a play using the Custom Backslash tool as well. Thanks everyone for the help

Thank you so much. That looks fantastic!

Hi all. Thanks so much for the great advice I always receive through this forum. One of my clients is wanting me to add arched fretwork to the underside of her balcony as per the porch trim as shown in the attached image. I've looked through the incorporated millwork (both included in the library and available through bonus downloads) along with the SketchUp Warehouse, though can't find anything that's quite right. Unfortunately I am far from experienced with 3D modelling from scratch and was just wondering if anyone has any ideas or short-cuts before I try and recreate this look myself. Thank you so much.

Solver, thank you SOOOOOO much! That was incredibly helpful. It also changed the way I was thinking about the whole process which I think was something I really needed. Really can't say thank you enough.

Thanks. Yes, I only care about the front. Sorry, I don't know any of the pitches (or house dimensions for that matter). A friend wanted me to help her with some new facade colour schemes so I am purely using her photos and don't need 100% accuracy (as you will see from my plan so far it's not perfect). I decided it would be a good learning exercise. I have attached the file. Concept 1.plan

I've read the tutorials, I've watched the videos, I've spent hours playing with roof planes though I just can't make this work. I tend to use Home Designer for interiors so exteriors are a bit foreign to me. If anyone can help with some clear and specific advice about how to replicate this roof I would really appreciate it. I've tried building entirely from scratch and modifying the auto roof, I just don't know the best way to go about this. I keep getting weird results and am really struggling. I am producing this for aesthetics only so although I want it to look as close to the photos as possible it doesn't need to be "build" accurate. Sorry, I know they're not the best photos though they're all I have. Thank you.

Thanks. I'll give it a go.

Thank you. I did have a play around using a pass-through though was having trouble due to the casing. So, with this method I can't keep the casing around the opening?

Hi all I've been playing with this for a while and watching videos and reading tutorials though I just can't figure it out! I need to create a half wall in an opening (similar to below). This pic is from a tutorial though it doesn't really explain how to achieve this (or I'm just not getting it). Any ideas? Can someone walk me through how this would be done. This is my plan. I need the half wall to come in behind the kitchen cabinets. These are the pics my client supplied. Any advice much appreciated.
