I am trying to build a story and a half home with bedrooms and such on the upper floor . Built the lower walls no problem 9' ceilings then did the roof plains 8/12 pitch that worked well but ended up with no floor for the upper bedrooms so I drew in 2 1/2" I-Joist above but still no floor and it looks like all the doors and interior walls are building off the lower ceiling drywall .  Help , What did I do wrong ?

I am thinking of purchasing a laptop so I can take the plans to a client to review , I do all my designs on a desktop (it is easier for me) . Do I need to purchase another Home Designer Pro 2020 program or can my existing licence be used on my desktop and laptop ?

Is there an easy way to change the floor joist direction on a plan . The customer made some changes and the new floor joist need to run east-west instead of north -south. I had to move beams and re-direct them but when I generate the floor joist they in their original north-south direction.

Is there an easy spin joist tool.  lol 

I am in the same position however I haven't looked at Auto Cad LT. Maybe you can fill me in on what you like about it.

Click on Door and you should see on the lower left (gable over door or window) click on that input pitch etc. and that should put a roof over your door . You can add the brackets after from the library. 

Hope this helps a little.

What do you use for File Storage Backup ? I am thinking of Google Drive.

I would like someone to expand upon the new features of Home Designer 2020 because from what I can see there is not a lot of difference between 2019 and 2020 versions. I may be wrong however. Thanks

Good Afternoon everyone , I am creating a general notes page that I want to save and use in other plans later on . How do I save this page in the library so I can bring it up make the necessary changes to suit and create a layout page for each different plan I do.

I am currently using Home Designer Pro 2019 and do approx. 5 or 6 complete house designs a year and it seems to work . My question is , should I put out the money to upgrade to Chief Architect  or keep using what I currently use. Being from Canada that is quit an expense. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.

So in other words the way I do it is common because I could not find anywhere an explanation on how to change layout pages.

Question , I have created a layout page with border and page number etc. then I send to layout my drawing on tabloid size ,  print the page then highlight the drawing pull off of layout page and then send next page to layout change page number etc. and print and repeat until all pages are printed . Am I doing this right or is there another way ?

Help , I am doing a plan in Home Designer Pro 2019 (almost done) and created a back-clipped cross section for wall section detail , everything is going well I created details , typed in all the details of foundation , exterior wall , roof etc. Sent it to layout , Re-sized and rotated it to fit the page 11 x 17 tabloid now when I print everything comes out Blurry , can't read the notes they are all blurry the line weights seem to be to aggressive (I never changed any of those) . I have tried changing and resizing the Fonts , printing slightly different size , nothing seems to cure the issue

The title page block prints just fine all it is the Back Clipped Cross Section I created prints blurry . ALL other pages , foundation plan , floor plan , roof plan etc. printed fine.

My printer is an EPSON Work Force WF-7720 , I don't think the printer is the issue.

Please Help. Need this for end of week.

I am looking for help to do a raised heel truss (10") or what I call an insulation heel  for a home. House is 28' wide with a pitch of 6/12 and 18" overhangs I am using Home Designer Pro 2019.  Any help would be appreciated Thanks.

I am currently working on a plan and have it almost complete . I do a camera cross section and realize that my wall (ceiling) heights are 9' instead of 8' like I wanted . How do I fix this without messing everything up. Thought I would ask before I try.

Looks like I fixed it ... Deleted roof plains and then rebuilt roof . Everything looks fine now.

I am trying to flip  some dimension lines from left to right or top to bottom . I highlight the dimension line and use the rotate arrow and swing it around but the numbers revert back to the what they were originally which is upside down for what I want . What am I doing wrong?
