pjdaly
The ceilings in this house are all strapped (which is common practice around here) and I have that implemented in HD as a Ceiling Finish using a Frame Lowered Ceiling with Air Gap = zero and Framing Thickness = 3/4"and Ceiling Finish = 1/2". This creates situations where gaps caused by the the 3/4" strapping are not automatically closed and I'm hoping there is a way to direct the software to fill this gap rather than circumvent the issue by not using strapping and setting Framing Thickness to zero. These 3/4" gaps appear when I shut off "Flat Ceiling Over This Room" in the Kitchen which opened up the Kitchen ceiling and shows the gap at the transition to flat ceiling in the hall. They also show up when adding skylights. Sorry if this is already addressed elsewhere.
Rookie65
I always use an 1-1/4" ceiling finish, as that puts the strapping right under the framing and includes the dimension of the strapping and drywall. For a garage ceiling, I change it to 1-3/8" for the fire code drywall

I was thinking of doing that as well as an alternate workaround... but it seems that there should already be a solution that accommodates the usage of the Framing Thickness without having to do something manual to fill the gap. Rookie65
Possibly, though it's likely that since it's a world-wide program, that is left open so users can decide how they want their ceilings to frame.
