How to create a roof over a covered patio/porch

Essentially I am having difficulty figuring out how to create covered porches that are supported by LVL Beams and Post. The automatic roof tool always wants to follow the exterior wall path rather than incorporate a covered porch. How do I place the beams required and how do I get the roof tool to recognize that the roof should continue its path over this creation as if it were an exterior wall?

In the deck wall, on the Rail Style panel, there is a 'post to beam' setting; and on the Rail panel the size of bean.  In addition, in the deck room itself, is the option to include/exclude a roof overhead.
