How can I create a custom object and put it into a new layer so it can be turned on / turned off in the view?

If I create a custom object, how can I create it in a layer of my choice?  For instance, how can I create a "Custom Steel Truss" layer and then create the object in it?  I'm using Home Designer Suite 2019 (64 bit).

You have already been told by Chief Architect that you can not create custom layers in HD Suite, nor any of the HD products. Maybe you could create something and save it to your user library, yet a layer for it is not an option. Maybe in Chief Architect Premier, if you're willing to pay for that upgrade?
