rawalter
I am currently in the process of designing a home that will be built on a hill and will have a garage as the "basement" area built into the hill with the rest of the house on top of it. The area above the garage should have floor joists but the area not above the garage should be on a monolithic slab. Generating the basement foundation and monolithic slab areas have not been a problem but for some reason I can't get the program to generate floor joists above the basement. Does anyone have any thoughts on why that wouldn't be working? I've tried going through the Build Framing dialog and choosing to build floor framing as a sub frame of floor 1 but for some reason it doesn't generate and when I go back to the dialog the option is unchecked again. Any help here would be greatly appreciated!
Garybills
Check your Basement Garage floor structure and make sure floor under this room is checked. This is what I get if it's not checked.
rawalter
Interesting, I actually do have it checked but instead of generating the ~12" floor joists like it should, it just generates a 4" thick ceiling. Thank you for the assistance with this!
rawalter
Also, I tried changing the values to match yours (ceiling -12 5/8", etc.) and it just adjusted the floor above value automatically.

rawalter
Nope, just the basement room. The rooms above it are an office, mechanical room and part of the kitchen.
rawalter
Here's the floor above the foundation/basement

If so you might have to use a room divider and split the kitchen where the floor is different.
rawalter
Ah, good call! Let me try that and I'll let you know if it worked.
rawalter
Hmm, no luck there :(. I even tried changing the flooring of each of the rooms above basement with not much improvement. I could increase the height of the floor but I couldn't change the structure.

rawalter
@solver and @Garybills, thanks for you help on this! Adding a room separator wall with a thickness greater than 0" was the key. I added that in around the area above the garage and that fixed the issue! Definitely not intuitive so I hope this helps others in the future that run into this.
