ksujeff99 Posted August 21 Share Posted August 21 Hey everyone, I started using HD yesterday to create a realistic rendering of a three season porch addition I'm doing for my house. I needed to convince my HOA to allow my gable/shed/gable roof design. I was successful - project approved! In this image, the smaller gable on the right is the existing house. I'm adding the left gable and shed roof in between. The deck is existing as well (although it's being essentially rebuilt for this project). Windows will be those vinyl-glazed three season porch windows that many companies make these days. My question is about the capabilities of HD2026. My roof planes are just mocked together - not framed correctly in any way (as in the new gable roof extends under the shed roof). Is there any way to join these three roofs together in HD and generate an accurate framing plan? Or is a mock-up as much as I should expect from this tool? y-g-m-n Posted August 22 Share Posted August 22 If you create it using manual roof planes with any HD pro version Then when done with that go back to framing tool and AUTO frame it will add framing for the roof planes you created. y-g-m-n Posted Saturday at 07:25 AM Share Posted Saturday at 07:25 AM You need to put a hole in the roof plane for the Gable end which is almost acting like a DORMER. Or cut this shed roof plane around the gale plane.. Insert some break points where it intersects the gable and then move the part under the gable. Pretty simple actually... Think of it like a slab or other enclosed polyline item and add and subtract corner point and re-shape the roof plane. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Point is I did this all by tweaking roof planes. So once roof planes are close. That would be the 2 gables (4 planes) and the shed are close I use the Roof Plane JOiner tool to get then right. When all done and looks good I rebuild framing. you see the valley rafter where the shed meets either Gable... HTH If nto you need to play more until you get it.
