  1. I've searched a number of posts regarding walls above the original room ceiling height and up to the sloped ceiling (made with the Soffit Tool) but still struggling with this strange anomaly.  I'm not sure how four walls, all drawn at the same time, can end up different.  I also find it interesting that when I select the correct walls in 3D view, they are actually two separate pieces of wall, the piece from floor to original ceiling height and another piece from that old ceiling height line up to the soffit.

As far as I can see, all four walls have the same settings.

    Thanks in advance!

PS: Thanks to Jo_Ann for the easy tip to remove the base molding around the chase walls.

  2. Hi Eric - Thanks but that shows a pair of windows.  Presume I just change the height and zero them to the floor and they're then considered "doors" rather than windows?  I thought there may be a way to use the door rather than window.

  3. Using Home Designer Architectural 2018

This cannot be this difficult  I'm trying to install a pair of exterior french doors with no jamb between them.

I can get a single door with no problem.  If I add a second door, I cannot merge the two to one unit with no hamb.

    HELP!!!

  4. Feeling really dumb here!  I know there has to be a way to do basic closet components - standard shelf with hanging rod - but for the life of me I cannot find it.

    Help Please!!!

    Thanks

  5. OK, admittedly I'm somewhat OCD but I also like clarity on my plans. Having two doors in close proximity to each at a corner (bathroom entry door and linen closet behind the door) results in the door swings overlapping. In my old hand drawing and Autocad days, I would use a 45 degree door swing arc versus the 90 degree arch, thereby eliminating the overlap. Is this possible in Home Designer Suite?

    Thanks!

  6. After a lot of review and evaluation, I'm nearly convinced that the Chief Architect line of products is most suited to my needs for some initial design work leading to construction documents for a new home project as we get closer to build time. As an architect with over 25 years of experience (no longer actively practicing) I worked exclusively in AutoCAD so this software switch will be a little bit of adjustment but seems to be much more robust that the old days. I plan to start in Suite or Architect and likely upgrade to Pro when I'm ready for documents phase.

While looking at several products, I found the attached Quick Reference Card for another program. I also recall having a similar handy "cheat sheet" for AutoCAD. Is there anything similar for the Home Designer products?

    Thanks!
