  1. I could not open the file since I run HDPro 2016, but I had a similar situation on a client's house several months back. What I did was go in the room dialog and uncheck ceiling over this room. I believe I had to build the framing for the vault and then do manual ceiling planes to create the look but to also make sure it was built correctly. As far as how the roof is cutting off the ceiling and the wall, the roof baseline is too low. You will have to work the problem backwards to some degree. For instance, the top of your double plates at 9'1-1/8" is where our bearing point is for the rafter. In the dialog box for the roof plane, it will tell you what the vertical height is to the top of the rafter based on the material and pitch so just work it that way. That is the easiest way I have found.

    Scale in Layout

Is there a way to check the scale of the view you sent to layout? Since C size is the largest sheet I end up having to use 3/16" for floor plans, most of the time! Sometimes I forget what scale I sent a plan or elevation to layout. I also wanted to ask if the text heights are adjusted when you send something to layout. Typically I run a 3/32" print height for all of my plans/elevations. The default is 1/8" and shows for 1/4"=1'-0" in the text format dialog, My text always looks bigger than it should be so it leads me to think its not adjusting my text based on what scale I used when I sent to layout. I don't have a plotter at home so i don't have a good way to put my scale on it.
  3. You can place an object on a layer that you do not use and then use the eye dropper I believe and select another object and it will put it on that unused layer. I have had success with this method. I am not in front of my copy of the software but it works fairly well for me.

    Export DXF

I am exporting each floor separately to a .dxf to open in AutoCAD 2011. All layers are turned on in AutoCAD but there is no sheetrock or exterior materials on the walls? Not a huge deal, but it looks odd without it on the plans. Any ideas?
  5. Ahh! I didn't even think about that. That is probably a good solution. Thank you
  6. My client is wanting this set up with sliding barn doors that creat the 90° corner of the room. I am not sure how to get the little small corner of the wall to go away. Any help would be great.
  7. That's what I have been doing. That isn't hard to do, just making sure I wasn't missing that big red "easy" button somewhere.
  8. Is there a setting to have it follow the rise/run? Or is that manually done? I apologize for not stating my question a little better.
  9. Is there a quick method for placing wall sconces up a stair case?
  10. Thanks, I assumed that was correct. I forget that reference manual has a lot of information in it. I can usually figure out what I need. I just forget to check there.

    Material List

I wanted a quick, down and dirty take off on a remodel, my personal home. I am looking at re-roofing the house and using an exposed metal fastener roof. After I have built the roof, it just shows a number, 802. If that were the quantity of panels, that would cost me almost 30 grand in materials. So I know that can't be the number of panels. Just curious if anyone has run in to this.
  12. I still am baffeled by why it will line up the stem wall with the outside of the stud (which is fine) but still have the footing offset by 2". Does not make any sense. Could just be me though
  13. How do I center the stem wall on the footer? I know in Premier there is an option under the Foundations tab. I can't seem to find a way in Pro
  14. It is a typical wall section detail that I have used on several occasions.
  15. It's just not in my budget at the moment. I only draw house plans on the side for extra cash (vacation). Is there a way to adjust where the CMU stem wall sits on the footing? I looked at the documentation but didn't really see a way to dictate that. I work with two guys that have Premier, and they also fight some of these same issues. We all currently draw our foundation plans in AutoCad and then import them.
  16. I am a full time draftsman (2D Autocad) and sometimes I really struggle with 3d. Something won't be quite right and that drives me insane. I have the wall details in AutoCad that I can import but the purpose of the software was to eliminate AutoCad from my work flow.
  17. I am trying to learn how to create accurate wall details for how we build homes in my area. One area of trouble is at the stem wall. I want the slab to cover half of the cmu block, or extend over the stem wall 4". An example of this issue showing up is in the garage. I maintain my ceiling height but lower the floor 4". When that happens you see the stem wall sticking up through the garage floor.

    Roof Truss

Exactly what I was looking for! Touchdown my friend, haha. Thanks for the help.

    Roof Truss

I want to force it to show the bottom cord extending past the wall and being the structure for the eave. Not having a birds mouth like it wants to give me.

    Roof Truss

Ok. Trying to think of how to explain what I want. When I do a back clipped section to create my wall detail. I want the roof system to show like the drawing I attached. Our eaves are the bottom of the bottom cord on the truss. This is what HDP is giving me.

    Roof Truss

I am trying to determine if Home Designer Pro can accomplish this task or not. In my area, we frame our roofs differently than what is default in HDP. The attached image, which is just a general section, shows what I am looking for in my typical wall section. I am a draftsman by trade so I use AutoCad daily but would like to abandon having to import my old cad symbols and go strictly to HDP. Took some effort to figure out how to do away with the brick ledge on the stem wall.
