  1. Hi Jo-Ann and Solver,

I've attached two snips... one shows by display options for Fixtures.

The other shows the sink in the library... but when I right-click the sink I do not get a "export Library" option.  The snip shows the menu I get after right click.

    Thanks for your help,

  2. Hi,

I'm working to prepare a plan set to remodel a larger single story residential structure with many rooms that sits crookedly on a larger property.

I have drawn the parcel and positioned the structure on the parcel without any difficulty.  I have no confusion about showing or hiding dimensions the conventional way.  However, because of the scale of this project showing dimensions when zoomed out just creates a muddy mess on the building so I have noted the dimensions of the terrain and the building location simply using text so that they continue to appear when I choose not to show dimensions.

But I want the text to be hidden when I choose to hide the terrain.  Can I somehow connect the text I am using to describe dimensions to the Terrain?  So that when I am not showing the terrain the text is also not showing.  Can I use the Cad Block or Architectural Block features in some way to do this/

    Thanks,

  3. The existing building that I am drawing has some very ugly facades or faux gables built on top of the low-pitch gable roof.

Any ideas on the simplest technique to draw these?

Do I make them a second story?  I don't need to see them in a second story floor plan view.

  4. That sounds easy but when I do that I don't know how to force the program to stop building stem walls.

I know how to choose a slab foundation and I know how to set the floor height at -20" (the floor height for the main structure is 0").  But it doesn't simply give me a flat slab... it creates  a slab at the height I want but insists on also giving me a stem wall and it just goes back and forth.

I want a slab with a footing and no stem wall.

    There is something I'm missing.

  5. Hello,

I'm drafting an existing residential care facility in preparation for a remodel.

Most of the building is on a perimeter foundation with the sub-floor about 24" above grade.

But one room, The Staff Quarters, is built on a slab about 4" above grade.

What is the most efficient way to make this modification?  Should I have made the modification before drawing the full exterior of the building?

Attached is a snip showing the floor plan with the Staff Quarters labeled.

Attached is also a snip showing the basic roof lines... after lowering the staff quarters the roof for that room should fit just below the eave of the main roof line.  Note that part of the staff quarters is under the "main gable roof" and part of the staff quarters is under the low-pitch shed roof.  I realize that may not be logical but that is how the existing building is built.  But the floor height for the staff quarters is all the same and all on the slab.

    I've also attached the project.

    Thanks for any help/ advice.

  6. Of course... I see now that I was performing the correct steps but my plan scale is so large that there was simply no difference in line-weight until I changed it to 600.  I was making changes from 50- 60 or up to 100 but that simply didn't show up.

Again, thank you.  I appreciate your help and patience.

  7. I have a line drawn that I have made a dashed line.  When I click that icon that one line changes from dashed to solid... and back when unclicked.

It seems to have no effect on the terrain border.

  8. I can't thank you enough, Eric/ Solver.

That is so simple yet I couldn't find that description of the tiny label handle in the formal Help that is available.  And what is odd is that for the first three projects I worked on the label auto-generated a few inches outside the building... so it was obvious and easy to simple click and move them around.  But with this current project they auto-generated exactly on top of the window and, without knowing that I needed to zoom in and find that tiny handle, I couldn't select the label.

Thank you again for your patience and help.

  9. Simply the window label/dimensions.  If the window is 4'0" x 2'0" and a SH.  That is all I'm struggling with.

It was a movable item in my first three project.  Now it is not.  Same program.  Same computer.  No difference... except now I can not move that information?

I uploaded the plans at the start of this question.

  10. Hi Keith,

I totally appreciate this is simple question and I am trying not to wear down the good-will of you folks who have been helping me.

And I am working with the Default Settings and looking under Dimensions... but none of those options change where the window dimensions display.

    Thanks for your patience,

  11. I managed to get the walls to line up simply by holding the ctrl key while moving it with the mouse.

But the drywall is still removed even when I unselect the railing feature.

I've tried drawing the wall as a regular interior wall and then just pulling it down in 3D but it still removes the drywall.

  12. Thanks Y-g-m-n,

But then what do you do when you have a 2x4 interior wall meeting a 2x6 exterior wall?

If the framing lines-up centered then I can't get the surfaces right... but there must be some way to address this very common situation in building...

  13. I have been working with this program for about a month.

My first couple of projects I had no problem with the location of the window dimensions display because it was a movable object.

But I have now drawn a new project and the window dimension display is locked on top of the window.

I can't upload both plans as it would be too large... this is the plan where the dimensions are stuck in the middle of the windows.

  14. This seems like it should be so easy but it is a struggle.

I'm bringing an interior wall to an exterior wall right at a corner.

Of course the walls are different thicknesses.

It will not flush-out as I need it to.

Also, if I run a half-wall off that same area the programs strips the drywall off the wall surface above the half-wall.

    what am I doing wrong?

  15. Big thanks to all three of you for your help with this.  As I learn more about this program I'm starting to see how there are really multiple ways to approach it... all three of the people who helped with this really had different styles to achieve a similar solution.  I'm particularly keyed in to becoming aware of when to use the auto-generate tools and when to move away from them during the whole process.

My background is as a General Contractor.  Of course with physical construction the "order of operations" is crucial... you don't install insulation before you are done with your plumbing, etc.  I'm starting to see that with this program the order of operations also matters.

Again... thank you very much for your time and thoughts.  I really appreciate it.
