    Railings

Okay thanks. I managed to put them on the first floor level but they were about 6" too high off the porch slab, so I drew an elevation and adjusted their height. Looks fine now. Alan

    Railings

David So you are saying don't use the railings from the main window but go to the Document library and drop one into the drawing? It's strange that it should insert itself into a wall. Thanks Alan

    Railings

Eric Sorry I meant to say draw not drop. I start at one porch column and end at the next. See where it places it in the screen shot. Also what is the correct elevation? Thanks Alan Plan and camera views

    Railings

Eric Sorry if it was confusing. I'm not trying to change the height of the railing -- just the location in elevation. When I drop it into my drawing it automatically places it in the foundation wall that is below the porch slab. I'm trying to place it between the porch columns. I should add that I'm using the regular railing and not the deck railing. Do you think that is the issue? Thanks Alan

    Railings

I'm trying to place a railing between two porch columns but it would locate where I want it to. It puts it in the foundation wall below the porch. On the railing window I don't see any way to change it's base height. Any help will be appreciated. Alan

    Stair Question

I created my stairs and the appear just fine in the floor above but on the main floor they appear like the screen shot. How can I clip them so they don't overlay my walls? Thanks Alan

    I Like It

You know the more I use this program the more I like it. Coming from ACAD Architecture it is a steep learning curve but it's slowly coming to me and it has some very useful features. I love the ability to create a floor from the floor below and the ability to create a roof with one click is great compared to ACA. I wish I had discovered this program a long time ago as it would have saved me a lot of money on the annual license fees that I spent on ACA. Alan

    Newbie Question

I am new to HD Pro having used ACAD Architecture for years. How can I get all of my tools in one place? For instance in ACAD I can have all my editing tools in one side bar -- such as mirror, stretch, trim, extend, chamfer, etc. and well as a sidebar for annotating, drawing (lines, polylines, circles) et al. I think you get the idea. Thanks Alan

    Foundation Walls

I'm using the Pro version of HD. KBird Thanks for the video. That seems like a workaround. Why should I need to create a wall so that I can create a foundation -- that seems backwards. I should be able to create my foundation first shouldn't I? Thanks Alan

    Foundation Walls

Sorry if this is a simple question but I am using the demo version as I'm thinking of transitioning from ACAD Architecture and it's a steep learning curve. I am trying to add a new foundation wall to an existing 9' high basement so I can add some bump outs to the first floor. This new foundation needs to have its top at the same height as the existing wall but only be 36" high. The issue I'm having is that I cannot seem to specify the bottom elevation or the height of the wall -- it keeps adding a full height wall. In the wall structure dialog window the default wall top and bottom heights are grayed out. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks Alan
