  1. Yes I think Jo_Ann is right , you were trying to place a material , not a Rug Object 1st ,

weird thing is I don't have anything in my Library Called Checkers is it in a Bonus Lib. I don't have perhaps?

  2. There Really isn't enough Info to build it 100% right  and I don't know what the other parts of the Roof should look like but here you go....

Note I didn't "fix" anything inside after I had to move it to make this fix work.  and Auto Roofs is still on , as you will need to set the heights Correctly so turn it off 1st , if you are going to start fixing the walls I moved etc.

This is a good example of why you should always build the Structure first with Roof . basement etc , then afterwards start the interior development , then start "decorating".

  3. Like you, personally I'd go single level if I had the Room to do it too , single level living is so much easier and there's not need of the expense of a second bathroom upstairs either.

Might be different if I was building this 1st , and it would become a Guest Cottage after the Main House was Built but I don't see the need myself for Tiny....Smaller well designed houses yes , I don't see any need for "McMansions" .....

  4. Thanks for all your help.

Yes, Jo Ann it does look kind of like that, except no partial wall at the end and there is patio outside not floor. I kind of tried what kbird suggested before and weird things happened. I am going to try starting from scratch and follow that advice.

Thank you so much for all your suggestions.

Post your current plan file , and let one of us look at it ..... maybe no need to start again...

    Mick.

  5. if you have ALOT of stuff in the Terrain ...not just the Terrain Perimeter , use the Save As way , and in the renamed Plan, delete the house etc , which in Pro you can use the Edit>Delete Objects Dialog for....

Later you can use Edit>All Floors to paste a new home in this Plan

  6. it should work like I said in Post #3 with an invisible wall where the red line is...... set RH side to 80" and LH side to 50"  for eg..( or whatever your knee wall heights are) and you should have an offset Ridge , do this before you do your interior walls etc or move them/delete them so you can build the Roof correctly then turn Auto Roofs Off .

If not post your Plan File ( HD File)  not a PDF of the Plan view , so setting can be checked , thx.

  7. - The issue on the front wall is because those Rooms on the 2nd floor still have different floor heights/ceiling below heights (2424mm) , and Pro wraps the siding down to the bottom of the floor Joist by default

-the anomaly on the gable isn't a graphics glitch it's cos there is a step in the wall for some reason

    - Should there be a roof over the single level storage area ?  I am guessing you did those with manual roof planes as for some reason the walls are not meeting the ceiling/roof there , if you turn on the Balloon through ceiling setting in the Wall DBX it will grow the wall to meet the Roof planes though.

    - couple of broken walls still see pics for pink cirlces the one on the left is cos you have an invisible wall on top of the Soundboard wall , other one just needs pulling back and letting it resnap to the main wall.

  8. It's depends on where you click on the "object" ,

click on the centre and get the square handle and it moves the object ,

click on the edge of the object and get the LARGE square handle and it will resize the object not move it.

( I don't use this often as you get weird sized Doors/Windows by accident-non standard sizes)

Don't forget to fill in you Profile SIG so we know who you are and what you are using .... see My SIG for how to....

  9. DJP and I both help People out at times , David actually teaches HD/CA via GoToMeeting (GTM) Online on an hourly basis as well as doing Drawings for Clients, so if it's lessons you need , just find one of his Posts here, his Contact details are in his SIG.

    Mick.

  10. Yes please add your info to your Sig.  , see mine for a how to , there are 30 or more versions supported here, all with different capabilities. Thx.

Does HDA not allow you to change the Arch type in the DBX'S drop down  menu?  Perhaps that is only Pro?

  11. It sounds like you need to split the room where you want the ridge with a Room divider Wall and set the rooms either side of the Divider to two different ceiling heights  .....you can fix ceilings later if needed....

but as Eric said easier if we see a Plan and what you are trying to achieve....

  12. Back clipped or STD Elevation , I usually turn off Colour and Line Weights for these View to make it clearer too.

I did change the garage doors cos the steps off the front porch interfered with access and driving straight in but if the garage was wider and doors moved over that may not be necessary and I made a couple other changes in there too as did Eric I think to the bedroom/bath/closets. I didn't add the shingle and knee braces etc ( no time), but there are lots of "touches" you can do for the right look.

Not sure if Eric used Columns from the Library or some he Made but mine are some I made , if you search the Forum on "Columns" you should find the Library I posted , they are blocks , so you can unblock them and resize if needed. (actually you can save them out of my plan into you library too , but the posted Lib. has 3 kinds)

My Stainless Steel Library is here too , HD's library material are just a dull grey.

With a steeper Pitched roof I think you could get the Quilting Room upstairs and esp. with a gable facing the view have some nice Windows too. , since the Lot has a slight Slope it may depend on what the Datum point is for the 21ft limit

  13. That corner has a broken Wall Keith in your plan  2015 and 16 show it as soon as you open the plan with the new "broken wall cursor" and Circle it.

Shout yourself Pro 2016 , then you'll be able to use Eric's or My Plan ...or Kat's or anyone else's for that matter....

You could open my Plan above with the 2016 Trial if you want to look at settings ......and see the broken walls..

Unfortunately I don't have any HD Software that can open your Plan and resave it so you can still open it.
