  1. As I read through the Help files, the only type of files you can import are .calib and .calibz files. The files in this and several other collections are .png files. That is why people are telling you, Chief Architect, that they cannot get these files to load. Why are you selling files that won't work with your software?
  2. I found the problem. When the plan was sent to the layout sheet, the "Use Layout Line Scaling" option must have been unchecked which produced the fat line weights.
  3. I tried printing the PDF with Microsoft's PDF as well as Adobe's.... still getting the same bad results. As past plans have done just fine, I suspect I have inadvertently messed up a setting in this HDP file.
  4. Eric.... thanks for the rapid reply. I made sure the line weights were off and then created a new PDF of it. I still have the same problem. Regardless of whether the line weights are on or off, the same results are rendered. I also tried both "Export to PDF" and "Print to PDF" but still get the thick line weights in the PDF.
  5. "Line Weights were on..." As in default line weights? Were does it appear that I went wrong? Thanks, Eric. I'm way behind getting this sent off to the engineer. I really appreciate your assistance!!!!
  6. I posted this on 6/23/22 but got no response. My plan in the layout sheet looks perfect. But when I export the layout sheet to a PDF, the wall line weights get too thick. I must have inadvertently changed a setting somewhere because I have successfully exported to PDFs many times in the past. I have looked at every setting I can think of but keep coming up empty. Suggestions? A-3 First Floor Plan.pdf A-3 First Floor Plan.layout

  8. I was having a problem with very blurry, low resolution elevations and sections sent to the layout sheet as a scaled, updateable item. If that happens to you, here is a quick fix: Select the low res item on your layout sheet, zoom in close, and then click on the "Update Layout Views" button and your problem should go away. I hope this helps someone before they waste as much time as I did figuring this out. Cheers!
  9. I have a general question: If the home design has only trussed roofs and contains no conventional roof framing, what do you set the roof plane frame thickness at? This is normally set based on the size of roof joist you designate. With no roof joists, what should this be set at?
  10. Thanks, Eric. That did the trick!!!! While I would have assumed that the defaults would prevail, this is an easy work-around.
  11. In three out of three home plans I'm currently working on, HDP 2021 is putting 2x6 headers over all openings, regardless of their lengths, and contrary to the header sizes specified in the defaults. I've attached a test plan from which I generated the attached screenshots.Test.plan While I could go in and change each header, it would save me much time if I could get the default header sizes to work properly. Thanks in advance for your assistance!!! Test.plan
  12. In three out of three home plans I'm currently working on, HDP 2021 is putting 2x6 headers over all openings, regardless of their lengths, and contrary to the header sizes specified in the defaults. The plan files are much larger than the 14 MB limit for uploading, but in the attached screenshot, you will see that HDP2021 placed a 2x6 header above a 9' garage door opening. While I could go in and change each header, it would save me much time if I could get the default header sizes to work properly. Thanks in advance for your assistance!!!
  13. That did the trick, however removing the paint layer from the wall type causes the wall framing to center on the outer plane of the wall, thereby exposing all of the framing. I'll make sure on future projects not to add a paint layer to the wall types so this doesn't happen again. On this project, I'll simply show the jamb in 3D views but removing them from the plan and material list. Thanks for your quick and professional reply!
  14. Eric, I removed the paint layer from my wall types in my default settings and made sure the subject wall does not have the paint layer, but the problem still exists. Thereafter I tried rebuilding walls after removing the jamb in the "doorway" settings but the results are the same as in my original picture. Additionally, removing the paint layer resulted in the wall framing moving out beyond the drywall plane, making them visible in 3D. Suggestions?

    using 2 computers

Eric, you said, "Many people use a service like Dropbox where files are replicated to the cloud and accessible from any computer anywhere." I've just transitioned to using a gaming tower computer for most of my work, but I still use my Surface Pro to work from home and with clients. Just to be sure i understand this correctly, can the plan and layout files can be uploaded to a cloud server and used directly by both computers or should they first be copied to each computer's hard drive prior to use? Thanks in advance for your reply... you are much appreciated!
  16. I'll give that a try. As always, thanks a million Eric. Your assistance is truly appreciated!
  17. Yes... set in the defaults as "white"
  18. Is there any way to create a doorway that has a drywall wrapped opening? When I remove the jamb from the doorway, the framing studs are exposed instead of applying drywall to cover them.
  19. I cannot get the living area label to display in plan view. The "Show Living Area Label" option is selected in the Plan section of the default settings. I also carefully scanned through the display options dialog list and checked (selected to display) anything and everything that may affect this label. Thanks in advance for any assistance provided!
  20. Hi Eric. I attached the plan file to the first post of this thread. Thanks.
  21. Thanks for your post, DIG5050. Nope, it still won't work. I connected three spline segments but they are acting like straight segments. Opening the properties of each segments shows them to be spline segments but they act like straight segments... they only have tabs to widen/narrow and lengthen/shorten. They end up being three straight connected segments angled to each other. Perhaps I have inadvertently screwed something up in the settings.
  22. For some reason, I can no longer create splined driveways and sidewalks (I have successfully created them in the past - even on the drawing I attached.) I create two splined segments that connect but they remain straight and do not have control tabs for curvature adjustment. If I open the properties of the splined segment, the dialog box does include the spline angle setting so that tells me that it indeed is a splined segment, but it functions as a straight segment. Thanks in advance for your assistance!!!!! Small spec.zip
  23. Eric, I cannot thank you enough for all the time and expert advice you gave me!!! A few comments... The version of the house plan file I sent you was, by your request, stripped down to just the essentials. Looking back, I should have zipped the full plan as it zipped down small enough to post. As I wear all three hats (developer, architect & builder), I try to utilize Home Designer to its max and therefore do want to use the framing component, although I am finding a few limitations as well as a few bugs. But all-in-all, this software is the best I have found - especially for the price. So again, many thanks!!! You are a gentleman and a scholar!!!!
  24. Thanks for helping me, Eric. Attached is a temporary, stripped down version in a zip file. Small spec temp.zip
  25. I use the soffit tool to create exposed beams, scissor trusses, etc.
