  1. Well I was just trying to save my file and lost hours of work. Some error message came up and it closed the program. The folder exists for the plan file but there is no plan file! Is there any way to recover it?
  2. I am trying to fix this roof that has a small glitch because I dragged the roof plane to make it look how I wanted but the model isnt working. I tried to delete the entire roof plane but it left the framing. How do I get rid of the framing? Grit_11_auto_save.plan
  3. As for the roof, Yes that original plan was messed up really bad. I have since re done the roof in auto build and added the porch later. It was causing many issues. thanks for all the help guys!
  4. I got it to put a window in one time but only the casing appeared, no glazing. I think i had two walls but now it wont do it at all. I will try unchecking balloon through ceiliing. On a similar note, How do you get corbels to attach to underside of soffit? They seem to only go to top of 1st floor wall. Thanks!
  5. Eric, Thanks for the help. The pony wall main layer alignment issue fixed a few other concerns I hadn't mentioned. As for the modeling of the foundation, I had read in a previous post or article that said in order to make stepped foundations I would need to drag them. This has created the issues with walls not aligning and eliminates the room divider. But I see what you are saying, the room divider would simplify things. One other question. Can I add a window into an attic gable wall? It wont let me. Im sure there is some work around to this. Thanks!
  6. I am having a few small errors while drawing this plan. This is my first full house drawing and I am learning as I go. 1- I would like the siding to cover the end of this wall as it does on the other end of the building but I dont know how to correct it. 2- There are a few areas on the foundation that show this line 8" in from the wall. Its not a big deal but I'd like to eliminate it if possible. 3 & 4- I have no clue where these came from or what they are. Please help. 5- I have place corner boards on every corner but for some reason they will no appear on this wall. I have attic walls in the trusses to simulate energy heel trusses. I have place corner boards on the attic walls as well but it still wont show up on this wall. Also, Is there a way to eliminate that small divider line at each floor level on the corner boards? Thanks for the help! Grit_10_auto_save.plan
  7. Making these two the same just puts the floor flush to the foundation wall. If the house floor is at 0" then SWT of the house should be -14 1/8. Garage floor should be 8" below SWT putting it at -22 1/8. I think this solves my issue. Thanks!
  8. I think I got that figured out. I had to make the wall invisible, otherwise it wouldn't allow me to make room spec changes. Now the issue I am having is the garage floor and foundation wall height. I would like to have the garage foundation at the same elevation as the rest of the house. It seems there is a default to make the garage elevation higher to compensate for floor framing. Also you will notice when looking at the plan that the roof does not plane with the rest of the house. These two issues may or may not be related. Thanks for the help Grit_10_auto_save_bak.plan
  9. On the garage that am designing, it is putting a full foundation wall under the garage door this is not required. How do I eliminate the foundation under the door opening?
  10. When I try to lower the foundation wall where the slider is to get it to 42" below grade, it moves the floor with it. So I went back to the floor defaults to change the floor height in relation to stem wall but it then rebuilds the entire foundation. How do I get the stepped foundation to work without affecting the floor height?
  11. Here is the plan file Thanks for the help. Grit_6_auto_save.plan
  12. Im using home designer pro 2018. Trying to build a walkout foundation. I tried following the steps in the tutorial for stepped foundations but it seems i am missing something. I am building the attached garage with only frost walls to 42" and the main house will be a walkout. First when trying to set footing depths using the room specification menu I set my stem wall height at 42" with the floor 8" below SWT. With 8" footings, that should put my footings at 42" below grade assuming grade is garage slab height. However, When I go into the cross section view and click on the foundation walls, I shows the wall at 3-10 5/8" to top of slab, plus 8" to SWT. Not sure what is going on. There are other issues I am running into when turning the foundation walls into pony walls to create my walkout but will address those later. Thanks in advance, Adam
  13. I've done that for plans. My question was the layout. Can this same thing be done for .layouts?
  14. Yes, Ive read all that but when I resized the paper, the layout blocks dont fit the paper anymore even after i resized them. Is there a way to make it always setup the layout to fit a certain size paper or does it always default to C? Also side question, after sending to layout it added 1st Floor to the page but its not on the plan view. How do I change this?
  15. Hey guys, I am using Home Designer Pro 2018. I am very new to this program and I am trying to print off a set of plans. A couple of questions first. In order to create a plan set, I am drawing each page and then sending it to a layout page. This means there are two created files for one page. I know you cant have more than one layout page open at a time but was wondering if there is an easier way to create plan sets. Secondly, I have created my drawings and am ready to print. I am have troubles with the drawing sheet size and keeping my original plan to scale. Also when I send plans to layout, it defaults to C size but id like to use B size sheets. Can I set this up before making my plans to draw on B size or can I easily scale things after they are drawn? Thanks, Adam
  16. I figured it out. I had to hit the reset to defaults button. I was only changing the defaults.
  17. I attempted the reset to defaults but I still have multiple floor elevation on one floor level.
  18. I am trying this software out for the first time and I am having troubles with the floor heights. When I created them I set my heights for everything but after editing a few things I later noticed in a cross section that my floors are not at the heights I specified. Some floors have two different heights on one floor. How do I go about selecting the entire floor and bringing it back to where I want it?
