Exposed basement window and patio door aren't visible when I turn off the foundation layer. They are still selected. What am I missing

First time posting, using home designer pro 2021:  When I remove the foundation in the elevation, my patio door and basement window vanish.  This is one of my first step foundations, so I drew the foundation and adjusted it's heights and pulled the first floor wall down.  Seems to look right it the framing view (easier for me to tell underlying framing issues), however the patio door and window in the walkout are listed on the door and window layers, but disappear when removing footing and/or wall foundation.  What am I missing?

Thanks for any help or suggestions!!

You can help everyone by adding that info to your signature (see below for how to turn them on) by clicking on your user name at the top right of the page, click Account Settings, then Signature on the left.

Doing so makes it always available, and keeps others from having to hunt for it.

And, turn on signature display too.

Many questions have been asked and answered. The Home Designer website is a good place to start your search.

Why are you removing the foundation?

You want to avoid dragging wall top and bottoms.

I'm sure there is a article/video on doing stepped foundations in the Knowledge Base (linked above).
