Copying all things drawn to new file

I am looking to copy all objects from an existing drawing into a newer template file as to avoid having to setup the schedule system that is in the newer template file. Is there a way to do this. A simple select all and copy and paste doesn't seem to be an option. Thanks for the help in advance.
