layers, what am I missing?

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I finally purchased a pro license for my detached garage/office project but I am having trouble doing the simplest tasks. I have the floor plan all done and now I want to add dimensions for the slab and rough in plumbing but all the KB tutorials do not match my 2017 version. I drew CAD lines and tried to figure out how to "move them" to the plumbing layer but I cannot find how to do that.

I would really like to just dimension my slab and plumbing rough in based on my floor plan so if someone has a better suggestion on how to do this please let me know. I also do not see an MEP toolbar and cannot add it.

Thanks for any help!

1) Please fill out your Signature -- see below.

2) The Home Designer products do not have the ability to create layers or move things to different layers.

Make sure you are looking at the Home Designer site -- it's blue themed instead of green for the Chief Architect products.

Consider making a copy of your plan and calling it Plumbing Plan, or something to indicate it is your plumbing layout. Turn off unneeded layers and place your CAD lines and dimensions.

It helps if we know what title (Suite, Pro etc) and version (2014, 2015 etc) you are using. You can add this info to your signature by clicking on your user name at the top right of the page, click Account Settings, then Signature on the left. Doing so makes it always available, and this info is often key to providing a good suggestion
