  1. Interesting solution; however, how did two walls go in fine and yet, the other two require walls to be added in the attic? Thanks
  2. I've searched a number of posts regarding walls above the original room ceiling height and up to the sloped ceiling (made with the Soffit Tool) but still struggling with this strange anomaly. I'm not sure how four walls, all drawn at the same time, can end up different. I also find it interesting that when I select the correct walls in 3D view, they are actually two separate pieces of wall, the piece from floor to original ceiling height and another piece from that old ceiling height line up to the soffit. As far as I can see, all four walls have the same settings. Thanks in advance! PS: Thanks to Jo_Ann for the easy tip to remove the base molding around the chase walls. Missing Upper Walls.plan
  3. Jo_Ann - Thanks so much!!! Greatly appreciate you taking the time to answer my question!
  4. I have a stacked stone fireplace surround and cannot get the room base molding off just the stone walls. Same goes for the "soffit" I used to create the hearth, base molding on it as well. All I can manage to do is have no base in the room at all or base around the entire floor. Thanks!
  5. Multiple ways - never did find the answer, which is why - I posted.

  7. MANY thanks! Don't I feel dumb. LOL
  8. Please help! Suddenly, I have an annoying symbol (see inside the red circle on the attached picture) on my crosshairs and I no longer see an arrow when I pick SELECT OBJECT. Thanks! Architectural 2018
  9. The cabinet side f the wall, as well as the end face, need to be one color while the larger side of the wall needs to be a separate color. Thanks!
  10. Easy day to change color or material on the faces of a wing wall but what about the end (wall thickness) face? Thanks!
  11. Thanks all - Jo_Ann's tip was the simple fix I knew had to exist!
  12. Hi Eric - Thanks but that shows a pair of windows. Presume I just change the height and zero them to the floor and they're then considered "doors" rather than windows? I thought there may be a way to use the door rather than window.
  13. Using Home Designer Architectural 2018 This cannot be this difficult I'm trying to install a pair of exterior french doors with no jamb between them. I can get a single door with no problem. If I add a second door, I cannot merge the two to one unit with no hamb. HELP!!!
  14. Jo Ann - yup, there it is. Thanks for the road map! David - I'll check out 3D Warehouse.
  15. Thanks David - EXACTLY what I was looking for and worked perfectly! Is there an online source for things like this, other than the Catalog area? Thanks again!!! MIke
  16. Feeling really dumb here! I know there has to be a way to do basic closet components - standard shelf with hanging rod - but for the life of me I cannot find it. Help Please!!! Thanks
  17. Thanks - actually found that, although not in the dialogue, you can grab a small triangle shown when the door is selected and manually change the swing. Success!!
  18. OK, admittedly I'm somewhat OCD but I also like clarity on my plans. Having two doors in close proximity to each at a corner (bathroom entry door and linen closet behind the door) results in the door swings overlapping. In my old hand drawing and Autocad days, I would use a 45 degree door swing arc versus the 90 degree arch, thereby eliminating the overlap. Is this possible in Home Designer Suite? Thanks! Mike
  19. Is it possible to rotate a room other than 90 degrees in the Space Planner Tool? Working on an initial design concept and the master wings is roated about 15 degrees off the axis of the main house.
  20. After a lot of review and evaluation, I'm nearly convinced that the Chief Architect line of products is most suited to my needs for some initial design work leading to construction documents for a new home project as we get closer to build time. As an architect with over 25 years of experience (no longer actively practicing) I worked exclusively in AutoCAD so this software switch will be a little bit of adjustment but seems to be much more robust that the old days. I plan to start in Suite or Architect and likely upgrade to Pro when I'm ready for documents phase. While looking at several products, I found the attached Quick Reference Card for another program. I also recall having a similar handy "cheat sheet" for AutoCAD. Is there anything similar for the Home Designer products? Thanks! Mike quick_reference_card.pdf
