  1. Jarret you have done a lovely job on that house Congratulations. I am using pro and I have not had a look at your plan but what I have found when I am creating Cape Cod and loft style homes I end up with double walls then the timbercladding shows in my windows.  If you know how to use the cameras have a look with your cameras and often during the process do a camera view then a glass house view. Before you do so much detailed work on the plan practice doing the perimeter walls and roof lines over and over. Especially the walls between roof line. As my 12 year old granddaughter said to me .

" Stop thinking like a professional grandma have some fun with the program then you will not get so upset when you make mistakes. Eventually you'll learn it all."

Out of the mouths of babes. LOL

  2. Wow that video is a great help David. From an architects view point I would have complicated it with structural thinking. Mmmm food for thought. I looked at her sketch and thought well in real life at those dimensions that cannot be done in dry wall. LOL So I am assuming the beam will actually sit on a noggin  inside the outside wall and then be covered with Gyprock????

  3. In the photo you will see that the corbel is in place in the perspective view but not in the plan view.

It is hard to position it in plan view as the posts have no outline in plan view. Local council will want the posts to be drawn on plan.

Is there a way of making the posts position show up when you use

draw deck with rails and posts?

    or

do I have to use cad to draw these?

    Many thanks Robyn

  4. In my previous Question Leanne said to change the corbels direction in plan view. Good answer because there are handles on the corbels in plan view but not in perspective view. Every one else assured me corbels do have handles. So I needed to have a tiled window open.

    click "Window"

    Click on tiled window or

hold down shift key and F6 at the same time and the tiled window will happen .

Position the corbels height in perspective view.

    Hit/click  space bar

click on corbel in plan view

shift select corbels handle in plan view

keep an eye on my perspective view while rotating the corbel in plan view.

As this is not explained in the manual I hope it helps other users.

If it is explained in the manual I have tried to find this answer for a few days without success.

Also to new users  On my older computer the program does not work that well. On my new computer it works much better. It still has bad hair days but I shut down and let the program have a rest.

I read on NVidias site that you should not run the video card for too long. So turn off terrain features and keep things simple on your screen. David told me that some weeks ago but it did not sink in at that time.

I still have one more question about corbels see new post.

And many thanks to all that tried to help me.

    Kind regards Robyn.

  5. Hi all as per my picture I have a wrap around veranda that I added to the main house.  My end walls do not follow the roof plane. I built the veranda roof planes manually. I have selected the walls and called them shed walls  also tried calling them gable walls. Would appreciate some help.  Thanks Robyn

  6. Thankyou for the answers I have had I am now able to put the type of post and beams I need into place.

    Next issue:-

in the "Create A Custom Pergola Tutorial"  it states that you can add millwork and corbels but it does not tell you how to attach then to the ends of your beams that you construct using soffits.

The drawing shows them attached to rafters but not to beams. In the video it is for Chief Architect and we cannot do all of the necessary  steps in Pro as we do not have the tools.

     Can anyone help? Please

  7. Thankyou Kbird and Solver. That helped with post and beams. But the video is for Chief. So my program will not do the designing of the Corbels. The corbels do not have a handle when selected. Therefore I cannot place them at the ends of the posts facing east and west. My plan is drawn with front door facing north. I have posted a new question. My sincere thanks. Robyn

  8. I am re-building my plan and want a pergola out the front. I have the posts in place and when I type "Pergola" into the reference manual it tells me there are no notes on Pergola. So I typed beam into HD pro library and all I get is a pine beam.

    Many Thanks Robyn

  9. Hi All I am building a house with a few different roof lines see photos below.

I moved a wall in my ground floor and went up to check it lined up in my 1st floor.

The roof did not rebuild so I went

    Build roof

    selected  "auto build roof "

Selected " retain manually drown roof planes"

Then the HD Pro software   redraws all the roof lines even the manually drawn ones and it converted my plan to a single storey.

I have watched the roof planes video 4 times and did a search in the reference manual. After 10 hours of re-draws and reading and watching videos I am about to scream. Help ...   What Have I done wrong??? LOL

  10. Thank you so very much everyone but the issue is it does not download. It goes through the motion but then when I click open it comes up with the file is"- as per the photo  have here In the above Q & A.. many Thanks Robyn

  11. Hi All,

I am trying to find answers in the reference manual pertaining to "siding" what do the items for each line mean as per photo 1.

What is a siding 6 wall made up of?

Is the blue section in my second photo? concrete? concrete block? or timber?post-620-0-88249700-1414882459_thumb.pngpost-620-0-26900600-1414882478_thumb.png

Note the 1st photo is in imperial as it is of the video I am watching

the second photo is in metric as it is of my actual plan in metric. I hope that is not confusing.

  12. Hi all When you answer my questions often you tell me what to look up in the reference manual and my sincere thanks for that. However as I am in Australia you are sometimes sleeping or it is your Sunday. What I need to know is :-

When I am watching a training video I like to refer to the reference manual. Is there a way to search the topic in the manual?

Would I need to copy the manual into a work document so I can click "find" and type in the  word of what I am trying to find.

I cannot workout how to search in the PDF of the manual.

     Many Thanks

    Robyn

  13. Hi all A few days ago when I typed "Tree" into the search bar of my library. Nothing came up. Then I tried Palms nothing came up. Support said they were not search word. In other words nothing is wrong with the program. But I know I have typed those words into the search bar before. So today I tried again and They came up with an answer. So this proves to me sometimes the HD pro program has fits. LOL.

As Technical support are unwilling to help, does anyone know how to refresh this program when it is having a bad hair day.

I ran my virus scan and a wonderful man from "Kaspersky Virus Software" took control of my computer and scanned it for me and checked for things working in the background. There was nothing wrong so he suggested to shut down and try again. I did this but the problem was still there. Yet today  when I put "tree and Palm" into the search bar,  there they were. I used to think it was my computer so my wonderful children purchased a new computer for me. The program seams to have bad hair days. Does anyone know how to refresh the program????

I do not enjoy posting negative statements but I do have an issue and I would like to find a solution.

  14. Hi all a couple of people sent me a great tutorial on building dormers so the external wall and dormer walls line up without a roof passing in front. However the dormer roof aligns with the top of the main roof.

To day I saw a picture on chief architect website on how I want my dormers to look.

Is anyone familiar with this model and do you know where I find the info on how to build it.

    Many thanks Robyn

PS Can we lower walls to bring the roof down.?? I tried adding a temporary wall around the dormer clicked inside and clicked openpost-620-0-07925600-1414544354_thumb.png but there is no wall dimension tool there.

  15. Hi all

When I am either working on the tutorials or designing a home I draw out my walls.

Then I click on each wall to change the dimensions to what I need them to be.

I select the arrows and hit the enter key.

    Then it drives me nuts.

It should just change the dimension that I want to change. Right?

    But it changes several dimensions.

    What have I not understood???

I have watched all the videos and I have read the manual many many times.

While practicing "Build a Clear Story" I have followed the instructions but it will not allow me to change the dimension to my overhang size of 760mm.

    Many Thanks Robynpost-620-0-20193600-1414542026_thumb.pngpost-620-0-50818600-1414542036_thumb.png
