I'm trying to create a wall cabinet with the default cabinet door to be CLEARCOAT walnut. You can see I have the default set at CLEARCOAT walnut. However, when I go to the cabinet and tell it to use the default, it uses some other walnut (you'll have to trust me that these are two totally different walnuts). On the picture I have attached, I selected CLEARCOAT walnut so that you see what it looks like, then I checked the 'Use Default' box. Once I check the 'Use default' box, it reverts to the other generic walnut. What am I doing wrong?

I can certainly create separate cabinets, it would just be a lot of work right now. What I have is pretty custom and sized for the computer stuff I have. It includes pull outs for the keyboards and mice (allowing for left and right handed - since I'm ambidextrous and am forced to use my left hand if my right shoulder acts up). Above the pull outs is empty space just high enough to allow the keyboard and mouse to fit underneath when you push them in. The width in the middle should be enough for two computers and the circulation they will need, plus they sit on a pull out because I'm done with wrestling with computers when you need to do something in the back of them like plug in different cables. Anyway, there is no way to do what I want, so I'll just live with it. I should probably look for a program that is specific for designing cabinetry.

I just didn't want two panels between sections. Multiple cabinets would add the two panels and throw the dimensions off. I guess I could do it that way and make the end panels 1/2 of normal thickness. I'll wait and see. I was trying to size it down for a 10' plywood top, right now it's 10' 2", but if I go solid wood top, I can just leave it at 10' 2".

I want to reduce the width of an entire cabinet by 2" and I want that 2" reduction to come out of a particular section. (Each upper slide out tray in that section can be reduced by 1" each.) How do I do this? The program does not allow me to lock the rest of the cabinet. junk_plan.zip

Eric, That added some other weird stuff. See the orange area at the top.

Thank you David for the video. I just haven't gotten to the point of smoothing out the terrain. I use it rough like this because I need to get a house plan I like before I go to the civil engineering firm and ask for the G&D plan. So far, I only have the topography and that's what is on the plan. So the terrain is real, but still in virgin form. I do appreciate your time and effort; I learned a lot from your video. The furniture on the lawn bothered someone else because it increases the size of the plan. I moved it out on the lawn because I am designing the rooms to accomodate multiple furniture layouts and I just wanted to get it out of the way. In the future, I'll remove it before I upload the plan. The 30' tall cabinet is out there because I use that to measure from the original terrain to the roof as the architectural committee has me limited to 30 feet max. and I couldn't figure out how to get the ruler to work in 3d view. Sometimes there is a method to my madness. Yeah, I know the heat pumps by the front door isn't a good idea. I was just playing with the shortest run to the air handlers. I was thinking about trying to figure out a way to conceal them. I'll probably end up putting them on the east side of the house. The west side (right side in this plan) in Arizona is far from ideal so I won't be putting them over there.

I'll check into the issues with the basement ceiling. Thanks.

None of that matters. Whoever I hire to draw this for the official drawings is going to start from scratch anyway. I'm not worried about it. As far as the terrain perimeter and elevation lines, I used the actual elevation above sea level.

See the orange part on the attached drawing. The ceiling over the deck is parallel to the roof's slope. I would rather have a soffit put in that joins up with the outside wall just below that orange section so that the ceiling of the deck is parallel to the deck's floor. What settings control this?

Thank you Eric. Got it, for the future I'll set that on vector view. I'll check into the extra framing but I don't know enough about framing to even begin to act like what I have in there is how it will be framed, I kind of let the program do it. I played around with it to get it in there just to get an idea of what it might look like and to see where the supports would be under the refrigerators. I did have to set the framing at some large depth, can't remember if it was 18", 20" or 24" though because I wanted the extra deep basement to get the bottom terrain in the back while keeping the garage as high as possible and still maintain the no step walk in between the garage and the house. I added the depth in the framing so I could make sure my floor plan had enough steps in the stairway, with a side benefit of being able to run the ductwork in the framing if I go with floor trusses. I'll be meeting with architects/designers this fall out in your state to see if can get something going on this. I wish you were closer to my build area.

Can you do that with the plan file I sent? If not, I'll upload another tomorrow.
-
Hopefully this is all you need for the plan. I used the option to backup plan file only since the other option was well over 25 mb. I don't know what you mean by vector view but the plan file should hopefully be all you need. It is the left corner of the house just behind the garage. I just screen dumped those pictures so they're at best .bmps, and worst case are .jpgs. I'd like the garage to house entry to also be no step, but the big thing right now is that this one corner is driving me nuts. Untitled_3.zip

Does anybody have any idea why these walls are different? I am trying to do something out of the ordinary. Storage off the garage is actually over the basement. Maybe that is messing something up, but I'm pretty sure at one time, this all lined up and now all of a sudden it's off. It makes a mess of the roof once I try to build one. Pictures attached have an arrow drawn to the same location in each view.

Thanks. I never knew what the reason for that lock function.

The file on the left has the house plan placed on the terrain/elevation/perimeter plan. I need to rotate the house, but because it's never a good idea to rotate the house plan, how do I go about rotating everything but the house plan and rotate just that portion shown in the picture on the right? I do NOT want to create a new file for doing this. I need to work with my plan on the terrain and perimeter because I'm up against all the setbacks and without it I wouldn't know where I am. Here are the features I want to rotate around the house plan. I'd like to see the house, and leave it as is, while I'm rotating the other features, so I can see where the house is hitting the setback lines. All the items in the picture on the right are listed in the Tools Display options as: 1. CAD LINES 2. Terrain Perimeter 3. Terrain Features

Got it.

I have a similar question so I figured I'd post it here. Why do my window and door sizes always get labeled with an incorrect size, even when I change sizes. I have to manually change the label on each one (unless I copy a window from one place to another, in which case the label goes with it.) See attached example. The window that I have in the wall is a 3654, the defaults are 3660, and the label that automatically generates is 3046. In order to label it correctly I have to go in and manually change the label.

Is there a floor drain somewhere inside of Home Designer Pro 2019 somewhere? If so, can you tell me how to locate it?
-
Update: Figured it out once I figured out they were called temporary dimensions. I still don't know how it got turned off. To turn back on go to View - Temporary Dimensions Just minutes ago I was able to click on a wall, and Home Designer Pro 2019 would display the temporary dimension from that wall to the next wall, or from one object to another object. All of a sudden I no longer get that dimension display. I'm not talking about the interior or exterior dimensions that end up "permanent" on the drawing, just the one that would display while the wall was selected. This must not be plan specific, because I've opened older plans and it has also disappeared from those. What did I turn off?

UPDATED: I got this to work by drawing my closet, then going to room specification and checking the default boxes. I'm not sure why I couldn't achieve the same thing by actually entering the default values. I'm trying to create a closet in a lower level (0) bedroom. Why is the program changing my absolute elevations and relative heights? See attached picture. I've done nothing other than draw in the closet walls and for some reason the absolute elevations and relative heights on the newly drawn closet are different than the room in which it was created.

Are any of the truss/joist manufacturer's software available that would be compatible with Home Designer Pro 2019 so that I could hall in the floor plan and have the floor structure defined. Of course I'd still need to specify certain constraints, but would like to be able to have it drawn out in the plan itself. Right now I'm only interested in the floor structure.
-
That did it. Thanks solver.

I tried that. All it says is "Plan Check finds no errors in this plan." I'm sure what happened is that I deleted something and I had the Living Area selected during that delete and also deleted that. The Plan Defaults has it turned on. Still nothing. Edited to add that the Living Area label on the upper floor does display I just lost it on my lower level.
-
I deleted my living area on my lower level. How do I get it back? I tried plan defaults and unchecked Show Living Area, then went back and checked it and that did not work. I also tried plan check and that did not work.

Is there a way to set the floor joists so that it's one continuous joist bearing on a beam, vs. lapping or butting?
