  1. Well, upgrading to Pro doesn't seem realistic since I'm 90-95% through with my plans. It's been over 20 years since I broke out my mechanical pencil and templates. The wall section view is the only drawing that I was missing and I wanted all the drawings to match but it isn't worth $400 to upgrade for 1 drawing.

  2. It would seem that HD, as powerful as it is,could show a stud and a couple of other items to complete the wall cross section. When I was using AutoCad I could make a rectangle by picking the rectangle icon and type in DX=4,96 and I would have a stud 4" wide by 96" long. If I wanted more studs I would pick the item and copy it.

  3. I was wondering if there is a way to create a wall section view to use for approvals? This would include the footings, poured concrete wall, sill plate, engineered floor system, wall studs, top plate, trusses and roof materials.

  4. What information is necessary for plan approvals re: building permits and info for the tradesmen? A floor plan, elevations for all sides, etc. Where could I find and show the construction details like footings, poured walls, cross section of the walls etc.?

  5. Thanks all.  I found some nice stuff and then had to search long and hard to find where Windows 7 had put it.  Oh for the days of the simplicity of XP.

Try Windows 8. That will solve all your problems. LOL

  6. If I'm doing a complex change and have to sign off before I've completed my revision can I "Save As" and continue the next time and if so is the the original. before the revision, saved as it was the day before?

  7. I did that when I clicked on the wall to open the item and went to the exterior wall and then did as you suggested and picked the brick and seemed to work for me, not the first time but the second time.

  8. Referring to the thread Kbird mentioned,  has Suite now included pony walls?  If not, you can still mimic the 3D look that you want by overlaying some of the exterior walls with thin soffits (with different heights, making them appear to be stepped).

The pink walls in the example are soffits.

I'll only have one step, going from a 9' concrete wall to a 3' concrete wall with 6' studded wall above that. Where and how is the "soffet" applied?

  9. hi

I think he means the Eaves David.....  your garage slab is 8" ? lower that your House floor so you need to raise the Rough ceiling height in the garage to match the house..... ie house is 96" , garage room should be 104" , have a look in your floor defaults settings for Floor 1 and then look in the Garage ROOM DBX and see if it is the same....make it so if not....

Yes, Kbird1, that was my problem. I am now able to fix that roof problem.
