I am looking to purchase a laptop dedicated to running Home Designer Pro 2024.
My current laptop is a beast, but bogs down when running the software. It is built for Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD.
Does anyone have any recommendations on a laptop?
Thanks in advance.
Casey
The recommended specs for running Home Designer Pro are:
PC
- 32 GB of RAM
- 1 TB SSD
- Intel i9 / AMD Ryzen 9
- NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 / AMD Radeon RX 7900
- Laptops: Minimum 16" screen

I use Home Designer Pro to show customers representations of a finished space. Most of what I do is a single space, such as a bathroom, kitchen or basement and this is all I measure. In the project I am working on now, the customer wants to remodel their basement. With basements, there is always a floor above, and hence my first question.
1. How do you cut out the ceiling for the stairs? Or, is there a better way?
2. When I place an electrical panel on a wall, it will not recess into the wall. Is there a way of doing this?

Scott,
I got it. I missed one of the offset alignments. I appreciate your help.

Scott,
Tech support said that I needed to do the same with the texture to get it to line up, but I must be doing something wrong. I really appreciate you taking the time to look at this. I am fairly new to the software, but have learned a lot in the past couple of months.

Thanks Scott. Worked like a charm.

I am trying to do shiplap on a wall in a "V" pattern.
I have done one wall and it worked perfectly.
On another wall it will not work.
I put a break in the wall to make it into two sections in both scenarios.
I am sure it is something simple. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
The wall in question is the plan east wall in the half bath.

Thank you.

I am just wondering if anyone can share or point me in the right direction in finding an apron / farm sink for Home Designer Pro 2024?
I hope this is the right place to ask this question.
Thank you

Eric,
I did that same thing multiple times, and it did not work. Now I did one more time and it did. I am not sure what happened but thanks so much. I also did the custom backsplash and it worked perfectly.
Thanks again.

Thanks Eric. I have tried this multiple times and the rooms will not divide. I have made the pony wall on the left with no room definition, as well as the right and then both and still no separation.

I am not sure what I am doing wrong. I have not had this issues before.
1. I need tile to wrap around a full height wall just above the pony wall that dies into it.
2. The room divider will not separate the shower from the main bath.
I have included the plan file and two snippets.
Thank you in advance for all advice. And I hope I have posted this correctly, with enough information.

Thanks Houska. I have been away for a few weeks.

I am trying to remove the back and top of the cabinet. I do not see an option to remove this in the "Wall Cabinet Specification" dialogue. Is this even possible?

y-g-m-n,
Thank you for your response. It is well appreciated. I am just trying to learn.
Can the top of the wall cabinet be removed?
I am new to this software and in my full-time job I use Revit and AutoCAD which when doing these sorts of things it is pretty straightforward.
It would probably be easier if I were using Premier, but the guy I am doing this for does not want to pay that kind of money.
Sincerely,

Eric,
The top right elevation is the issue. As you can see in the other two elevations, the tile is showing, but in the upper right elevation it is not.
I know that I used the custom backsplash tool for the sinks. The wall with the problem is a pony wall with a 2x6 core, 1/2" concrete board on both sides and 3/8" tile on both sides.

Eric,
Do you want images and the plan file when something is posted?

I have two issues. One is trying to get the cap on a pony wall to die into the side of another wall, and two is trying to get the cap on a pony wall to overhang at the end of the wall.
Please see attached.
Thank you,
Casey

Is there a way to turn off or hide textures in elevations? I do not want to see tile or solid colors. I just want to see lines.
Thanks in advance,
Casey

David,
I figured it out. I just opened up a blank plan and was able to adjust the pony wall to do what I needed. I then copied and pasted into my plan.
Thanks,
Casey

I have been learning quite a bit about the software and appreciate the help I have received thus far. I have been following some of Eric's videos and these have been most helpful.
I am having issues with the cap on a pony wall. I want to remove the existing cap and replace with my own.

I have been told by tech support that a gaming laptop is the best to use with the software.
