  1. Is there a way to add floor trim inside arches without having to use the interior casings?

I don't want to have to add each little piece as add-ons, soffits, or backsplashes. It's just not worth the time.

FYI - I've indicated where I want floor trim in my pic.

Did you try to get creative on your own with anything? Maybe a puck light and make it very small and turn the light off?

    Keith,

Thank you for the tip. I would've never thought about a puck light, and since it's on the electrical layer it works!

  3. I've created a template project, so I can just duplicate it, draw the new house and all my sheets will be set up.

But, when clicking on the layouts on the sheets, they reference to the original project's folders .plan.

I've created this template so all the files that are the same, for each project, are already created and I can then just change the information.

For example, each project has notes and schedules.

Instead of having to delete each drawing, on each sheet, can I just select the drawing (on the sheet) and change the reference to the new project's folder .plan?

I think P05 is a 3 panel. You won't get 6 panels in that narrow a door for a bifold. Look at the panel door styles and find the 3 panel. It's not rocket science

Sorry by my response. I thought you were wanting me to change the panel door to match the bifold door.

I didn't know you could select a panel door for a bifold door. IT WORKED!

    I really appreciate the help.

    Use P05

    Rookie65,

Sorry, I can't use P05. P09 is the look I have in my current house, and that's the style I'd like to use for this build. I just like the design.

P09 must be the standard builders use. Since I wanted to keep that style I wanted to show the matching bifold doors on my plan.

  6. I'm using P09 as my default hinged interior door. But, there's not a B09 style in bifold doors, to match.

Do you know where I can get the same style Bifold Door as the standard Panel Door P09?

I've searched Chief Architect 3D Library for doors and didn't see any bifold doors.

  7. I'm sending multiple interior elevation views to one sheet. Why do all the scales change to the last scale I sent?

I've sent one drawing in 1/2" scale. Then, when I create a new drawing and change the dimension scale to 1" it sends the drawing to the sheet as 1".
BUT, the other drawing, that was sent in 1/2" scale automatically changes to 1" scale.
How can I show different scales on one sheet?

  8. I'm trying to indicate a portion of a dimensioned wall plan to indicate expanded view.

I've drawn a box with a hatch, then added a blocking box inside. But, the blocking box covers the floor plan.

What are you guys doing to indicate expanded view?

  9. In the library, for A/C, I'm only seeing 2-way, 3-way, and 4-way registers, is there not a 1-way register?

How about return air filter grilles?

  10. I've changed all my text defaults, but am having trouble with one. Electrical Component Text.

    Locations I have changed text:

    1. Default Settings > Text, Callouts, Markers

    2. Default Settings > Dimensions > Text Style

    3. Default Settings > Electrical > (there is no Text option)

    4. Shift ~ > Appearance > Font

    5. Layers > First, I changed all Electrical Text Styles to Default Label Style

I then changed ALL Layers to Default Label Style, no success changing what I "want" to change.

If I turn on the layer "Electrical Label" that text style changes. I don't want to use Electrical Labels, as the electrical component already displays what it is, closer to the component.

But, the font is chief blueprint.

    Here's a pic.

Why are you even looking at a Chief Premier help file???

AND...there is more than one way to do this.

First option is to look in the Home Designer Knowledge Base.

Chief Premier came up under a google search. Thanks for giving me this, "Home Designer Knowledge Base."

I saved it as a favorite.
If you had a link on the words Home Designer, nothing opened.
May I ask, "What did you search on the Home Designer Knowledge Base?"

While I don't open .plan files that people post, have you thought of making that wall a solid railing and setting the railing height to what the other rooms are?

And again, you would likely benefit from spending a lot of time with the reference manual to understand the program better.

    Rookie65,

I have tried the solid railing, but after getting it to the correct height, and changing the top of the railing to drywall, the top of the plant shelf, at times have not been solid. You can see the difference where the railing is.

Here's a pic of what happens when I use railing. I also, still have the sides extruded.

  13. Every time I split the plant shelf room, the wall in the middle extends through.

I have selected each room, one for the fridge, and the other for the pantry, and lowered the ceiling on both.

What could I do to prevent the middle wall from extruding through the top, automatically, every time?

I've added the drawing file for you to view.

    Thanks.

  14. What's the name of this type of roof? What are the add ons for this gable roof?

I just wanted to know what to search, so I can learn how to draw it.

    Thanks in advance.

  15. In AutoCAD I have different dimensioning (and font) scales, depending what size drawings are sent to the layout.

For example, 1/4" scale, small font, used to dimension the house, is 3"

HDPRO has the default dimension as 6".

Is there a way to set up dimensioning scales, so I can just select the scale, size of fonts, I want to use?

below with big black arrow pointing is where I have lowered floor before for a particular room.

Makes for great patios and porches.

    y-g-m-n,

I tried this. Here's are the different views to show how they're different, and the problem that I've been having.

First pic is the Entry, as Garage. This shows the drop, as the concrete is raised at the door.

Second pic is Entry, not as Garage. There's no drop before the door.

I'm done with this, as the structural engineering plans already specify the drop locations.

I’d like to thank everyone for taking the time to contribute.
