  1. Thank you! That is perfect. The thing I was missing was the ignore the top floor check box. I did everything else exactly how you were doing it except that. Thank you again for taking the time to help and make the video. I knew there had to be a way!
  2. I understand that. What I don't understand is how to create that room in any way. When I try to create it as a 2nd floor it creates a full sized room and the program then adds those same automatic walls on the attic floor. So it is not creating a room in the space above the ceiling and below the slope, but is creating a whole room and shifting up the space above the ceiling and below the slope. I guess the big question is, is it possible to create a finished space where I want it? Can a short room be created above one flat ceiling and directly blow the slope of the roof?
  3. So, I guess the goal is to have a fully functioning room in the space above the flat ceiling and below the roof slope on that side of the house.
  4. So I rebuilt and took pictures. This is the exterior of the shell and it looks how I want. This is the interior kitchen side showing the sloped roof with the 2 doors leading in to the space above the flat ceiling of the other rooms and below the sloped roof. This looks good, just have to add trim below doors. This is what the inside of that space looks like. This is the problem. I want it to look finished. All the walls seen are auto generated and I can't make it a room because it is in the attic. 1st floor plan Attic with Auto Generated walls. Everything is good except the way the room looks. I have tried everything I can think of to make it a real room. Hope this clarifies a bit...
  5. Hi guys! I have been struggling for hours and don't know if what I want is possible. I do not have pictures because it is something I thought up myself so I will try to explain well. Also, a reminder I am on HDS Pro 2021. Alright. I am working on a small structure less than 600 square feet. The building is basically split in half with a bedroom, bathroom and mechanical room on one side and an open living kitchen on the other. The building has a shed roof with a 4 pitch. I and doing a flat ceiling on the bedroom side and a sloped ceiling on the kitchen side. This all works fine. Now for the problem... I want to create a large storage space in the attic space over the bedroom side with small access doors from the kitchen side. When I try to make that space usable it tells me I can't do it because it is an attic space with auto generated walls. I have tried making it a 2nd floor so it is usable but then it still adds the auto walls to make the shed in the attic again and I have a 2 story house with an attic space I can't use. So, basically I want the angled space created over the flat ceiling by the shed roof to have a floor and be a usable room. Let me know if this doesn't' make sense. Any advice is appreciated. Thank you! Ashley
  6. Thank you for the response Eric.
  7. Hi Guys! I have downloaded a few door panels that I really like (from 3D Warehouse) and am able to use them as objects and place them in to openings of course. I am wondering however if it is possible to make them in to actual doors that can be used in the program through the door menu? As in, I place a door in my plan, I open the menu and next to Door Style I click Library. I would like the door to show up here to be used. Is that possible? Thanks as always. 8. Thank you Eric, I might have to upgrade.
  9. Thank you Keith. I was really hoping there was an easy way just to add a light source in the program, maybe something they can consider adding in the future.
  10. Hi guys! I feel like this should be simple but I have not been able to figure it out. Is there a way to add a light to a lighting fixture I imported from Sketch-Up? I found a cool coral ball pendent light and I need to put light in to it. I found the add light function but I have not been able to move it in to place, it automatically attaches to the ceiling. I am basically looking to add a ball of light (not a fixture, just the light glow) to the center of the 3D Imported lighting fixture. Hope this makes sense. Using Home Design Architecture.
  11. Thank you both for your responses. That makes perfect sense. I will look at the bonus catalog or just draw in the shadows manually.
  12. Hi guys, I use Home Design Architect and I have created a forest path and was wondering if I am missing something... None of the plants or trees seem to be casting shadows (I have cast shadows turned on). All the objects like the rocks and the fallen tree do cast shadows. Do the Plants in the library not cast shadows as a rule, or maybe I need Pro? I plan to take it into my art program to add the shadows but wanted to check if there is a way to do it here first. Thanks!
  13. If you are unable to find what you need on the bonus catalogs there is always the option to download 3D models in to the program that you get from another site like Sketch-up. That is what I do if I need something the program and bonus catalogs do not have.
  14. Thank you Keith! That answers my question.
  15. Thank you Eric! One small follow up question. Once you make the template and open it up if you change defaults on that plan will it update the template too or will you need to resave the template? Also, I subscribed to your channel.
  16. Hi there! I love this software. I was wondering if there is a way to create a new default set that you can choose on startup? We have the list with default, American Casual, etc and I am wondering if I set up new defaults on a plan I am building if I can save those setting to be added to that initial list so I can then use those defaults in a new plan without having to set them all up again. I have Home Design Architectural 2021. Thank you! Leek
