Hi Folks, Spent a great deal of time attempting to place a basic cube at some angle other than horizontal - no joy - massively distorts the shape every time. Imagine my surprise when I accidentally rotated a sofa at other than horizontal and it maintained its perfect shape at the new angle... Why is that - and is there a way to set a cube at an angle ? Thanks... Regards, Scott

Hi... Thanks for the comment and tips - I’ll play around with it some more. I put the entire project in an album on Flickr for anyone interested - I’ll probably keep it up when we start construction - hopefully next year. Maine Lake House https://flic.kr/s/aHsmPtE37x Regards, Scott

Hi Folks, Just a few images of the place in HDS - perhaps I should purchase some plants? Regards, Scott

Hi Folks, As a testament to the ease of use of HDS - I've completed most of my planned home build in about a week after my initial purchase of HDS - first time through with absolutely no prior building experience. I certainly have enough to sit down with a builder and discuss my plan intelligently. I've attached the file for review - external site hosted as it exceeds capacity here - feedback most welcome (especially critical) and I have a few questions. I imported custom objects and used all the addon libraries extensively - I'm not sure if the "plan" file contains all this extra data. As displayed - in the first pix - I have two [Anderson Bay Window 45 Degree (7' 2" 1/2 x 3' 2")] incorporated in the design - which I can't seem to add in HDS - would something as I've illustrated in the first picture work ? Is there a way to make it in HDS I am unaware of ? The "Bay Window" function in HDS seems pretty limited so I just through in some casement windows as a place holder. In the second image - there's the timber roof support holding up the massive overhanging roof - HDS seemed unable to create same - so I built the shape in an external program and imported it into HDS. Doing this means it's just a pretty shape and has no structure in the actual model. Does it appear as if what I modeled would work practically in real life ? I wanted beefy 6x6 timbers and this doesn't match up with the deck supports below - which it appears - I have absolutely no control over. I would want the 6x6 posts to go all the way to the ground eliminating some of the automatically generated deck supports. I want the fireplace - to be a "real" masonry fireplace - not one of those instant pieces of tin with a boxed in stove pipe attached. Are the dimensions I set big enough to handle a true masonry fireplace ? I'm not sure how they are constructed these days - concrete with rock veneer façade ? Maine Lake House (Plan File) https://mega.nz/file/Z0gjkR4a#9qliXE97JHpidpD-ZRTw2tx9kq9aC521g9wOv_MO_P4 I would certainly appreciated any input - - - Thanks... Regards, Scott

Big Help ! Thanks... Regards, Scott

Hi Folks, OK - after some forum surfing - apparently no angles permitted on shapes - that seems a bit cheesy - as simply positioning an object is a very BASIC function ? I made the part in my modeling software and exported/imported - so that worked... Is there a way to turn off object interference ? Now my handrail on the deck is preventing me from creating/positioning the needed posts to hold up the very extended roof. Thanks... Hi Eric, Thanks - I struggled with the artifacts over the weekend and managed to sort them out. Somehow something was placed in the attic area - not sure how I did it - but once cleaned up it was a bit better - still some odd things going on in the area. I think my file is far too large to upload here - I'll see if I can find an alternative. If interested - a little more about my project. I picked up Home Designer 2021 Suite last week after struggling to make the interior of a model - my dream retirement place - I plan to build in the relatively near future. I'm not an architect - I'm a decent 3D modeler but using software that isn't specifically designed for homes is less than ideal. Here are some renders if what I'm trying to create in HDS2021 - after four days of ownership - you can see the progress on the attached plans below. I'm now stumped on two issues: I can't seem to angle the timbers in HDS2021 as shown in my second image above the deck the roof gables. I've been playing with basic shapes but I just can get the angle pieces made - is there a better way to do it ? I can't get my bay windows to work in HDS2021 as I did with my other modeling software. The rooves are all mangled and I can't get anything presentable. Is there a way to do that cleanly ? Thanks so much for the responses - as mentioned I'm a complete newb but a fast learner - I will upload the file somewhere if you're interested - as I'd gladly take any tips from more experienced members... Regards, Scott

Hi Folks, First day using Home Designer Suite 2021 after an earlier purchase today - I am familiar with CAD like programs. I keep getting artifacts as I work through my first model - as attached. I've consulted the help and tried the same steps MANY times. The problem reoccurs every time. Half the house has vaulted ceilings on a gable roof and the other does not. The image is from the vaulted side - you can see the strange bulge in the wall I can't get seem to remove and the missing moldings. It gets worse when I put the roof back on as some walls are missing. Image and actual File attached. Any Help Appreciated... Thanks. Regards, Scott
