  1. I think I am getting there but a final question on foundations (using cylinders as concrete pillars)

I have deleted all foundations on level 0

I need to raise the house (level 1, 2, roof))  from the Terrain level by 500mm and then insert the cylinders as level 0 rising above the terrain by 500mm to meet level 1.  I do not really want to lower the terrain and associated terrain features if I can help it.

Something like this which I have drawn in another program.

Whatever you have YOU NEVER MOVE OR ROTATE THE HOUSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NEVER, NEVER, NEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What you do is to carefully rotate and move the terrain plane, its features and elevation objects relative to the house (the house stays put, always).

    DJP

PS: you can move the house but I do not recommend this kind of thing, you never rotate it, not ever, not no how.

What is the easiest way to select all of the Terrain (and all associated terrain elements, such as roads, walls, etc) to move, rotate etc around the house.

Do you have to select each individual object (I have been doing it this way but keep missing some or they get hidden when larger objects are selected)  Is there any way to group objects - I am finding it difficult as I am used to layers which allow grouping without effecting other layers.

Steep learning curve but I am persevering  ;o)

PS: I have looked at Edit Area but do not have the option of All Floors......  ???

  3. That sounds like it could complicate things - took me a while to figure out the roof and second floor (vaulted ceilings) so if I start messing around with no roofs and no floors I might be making problems for myself.

  4. Hi

I am building a shipping container home and I need to customise the floor and ceiling structures.  I cannot figure out where or if this can be done.  I also need to put in Concrete Pillar foundations (2 rows of 4 columns under each container).  Is there a way of doing this and negating the standard foundation setup?

These are my dimensions which include insulation, OSB and laminate flooring on the floor and then insulation and plasterboard on the ceiling (200mm void for ducting etc).  I have configured the walls already (well fooled them into the correct dimensions, I could not find a corrugated corton steel shell ;o) ).

Thanks for your help so far and trust me I have watched quite a few of the videos trying to sort this one out.

    Thanks Ian

I see you are just at the edge of the Pyrenees. I'm looking forward to the start of this years Le Tour to get my yearly virtual vacation in France.

Yes, just near to Luchon.  We actually run a cycling tour company (15 years now) and this is the first Tour de France that we will miss.  But I will get to see the Tourmalet stage of the Vuelta which is coming shortly afterwards.

Thanks for all the info - I will get on with it now.

  6. Hi

Totally new to Home Designer Architectural but I have been using the trial version and assumed the Temporary Dimensions did not work due to the trial.  But now with activated software the Temporary Dimensions do not show - I have the option selected under VIEW.

I have searched for Text Size in case it was just too small but nothing comes up at all.

I am trying to trace my Building Lot and using temporary dimensions to set the scale to work from.

Any ideas what I am going wrong.

    Thanks

    Ian
