    boathouse roof

I am trying to create a boathouse with open boatslips and one simple hip roof over the area marked out by the room dividers on the pic. HD pro 2021 does not seem to like this idea. I have tried several functions of "no locate", "make invisible" or any other options I can find to make the marked out area one square room with a hip roof, all to no avail. I cannot find a youtube video, HD help topic, or forum topic to fit this scenario. This is a boat slip over water, all constructed of treated lumber over water, so I believe starting out by drawing it as a deck is the way to go. Is that correct? I need to draw a couple of different variations for the customer, with different roof layouts, so I need to know how to make this work. I also need to draw a handrail along the narrow edge on the side parallel to the one I have drawn, stopping even with the existing railing, Pro will not let me break the wall and only do handrail along a portion of it, the program always makes the entire wall along lower edge of the drawing handrailed. I only need them for the to extend on half of the wall, and stop even with the ones on the other side of the walkway. This is on the left most end of the pic along the narrow walkway. I seem to be running into these type of issues quite frequently, and I am aware that it is simple inexperience, is there a tech support phone number I can call and get some real time advice if I need it? When i try to add room dividers, it adds in flooring in the open sections and puts some form of lower wall edge on the side of the deck, how do I stop that from happening? without room dividers, the wall heights on the storage closet will not work correctly. Do I need to delete the closet and draw it in later, or have it in place before I put the roof on? If I try to just roof over the room, it cuts out the boat slips and makes a multiple faceted hip roof, or only draws a ceiling, no roof. This is a pic of the actual existing boat house, customer wants to make some changes, so I need to be able to draw examples of what the new layouts would look like for comparison. How do I draw that roof over this structure?

    boathouse roof

yes, auto building roof, I dont want walls, only 6x6 posts on 8' centers. when i attempt to build walls, it does odd things to roof shape, and adds flooring into the open bay areas.

exposed rafters on a outdoor venue

Not having any luck finding my answer, was hoping for a quick answer here. I am designing an outdoor venue covered patio, no buildings attached. I have the covered area designed, and my rafter/roof framing shaped the way I want, but I am an not seeing a way to make the rafters exposed in full camera view. Final product should be full exposed framing. roof framing shows up in full perspective framing overview, but not in full perspective view. Customer wants to see final product. I am also doing tin roof over rafters, no decking, no soffits, but i do want gutters. I have unchecked all those parts in default roofs, but they still show up. I would also like to cut off the tips of the 2x12 joists where they cut through above the rafters. I have manually created the ceiling joists.

exposed rafters on a outdoor venue

eave fascia is all turned off, but still shows up. tried turning it on and setting it to 0's, will not let me set to lower than 1/16". I posted a screen shot of that panel, as it is currently set up on my laptop. Can you tell me what to set it to to make the eaves dissappear?

can you send me a screen shot of that check box for the eave trim? none of the check boxes I have remove it.

exposed rafters on a outdoor venue

I have found that I was trying to display ceiling trusses instead of roof trusses, I have them showing up in the rendering now, but still have not found how to remove the osb decking or eave trim.

exposed rafters on a outdoor venue

I have tried what you suggested, still does not work like I want it to. any suggestions? I have autobuilt and placed one truss, it is not showing up in the rendering. I have looked in the structure tab of the roof plane, I do not see how to remove the osb decking or the eave coverings, I am trying to create open space, exposed trusses, with tin roof visible from underneath.

exposed rafters on a outdoor venue

Can you send me a screen shot or tell me how to set those options, I dont see them anywhere. the camera view options I have found deal with camera angle and backlight, not what is shown in the view. I have opened each roof plane and deselected each of those options, I dont see where to get rid of the underside of the soffit coverings. Can you tell me where that is or send a screen shot? I didnt use autobuilt because I could not force them to work no matter what I tried. Can you tell me how or send a screen shot of how to make this in the drawing? I would like the final product to be a single 2x12 ceiling joist on top of the beams, with open rafters above, so an open triangle with no webbing.

    Material list vs master list

I have read the help manual and watched tutorial videos, as well as searched forum topics, have not found my answer yet. I have prices imported into my master list, cannot draw them into my plan material list. Based on what I have read, it is because the information is not identical. I have tried changing the reporting method, gone through every available setting I can find, and cannot get the information to move back into the material list. Master list shows board lengths in even fractions, material list is in decimals. Material list will not change from decimals no matter what setting I use, linear, cut, or buy list, regardless of feet, inches, or combination. 1) I have never seen a 40' board in any lumber yard, why does my material list tell me that I need a 40' piece when I change it to "buy list"? 2) how do I get the pricing to move back into the material list from the master? these prices were imported to the master from this list, I have not changed the plan, I have only closed and reopened material lists, so it stands to reason that the items imported to the master should match the material list they were imported from.

    Material list vs master list

The "update from master" button does nothing. As I stated, based on the reading I have done, I believe it is because the master list description is not identical to the material list description (lengths in even numbers vs decimal numbers). So, back to my original question, how do I get the lengths in the master and material lists to register the same?
  13. I am designing a house with a taller garage and hip roof design. Because of this, a small triangle of the interior garage wall under the soffits becomes exterior. How do I make those 2 triangle sections of wall show up as exterior and have appropriate metal siding. I have attempted marking it as an exterior wall, adjusting wall coverings, among several other things, and have not figured out how to make it happen. I am still learning the software, any assistance would be appreciated. Aaron Kilgore Kilgore Remodeling Services Home Designer Pro 2021 stiver1.plan
  14. Still does not work....is there someone I can contact directly to walk me through this error?
  15. I feel like I have done that multiple times, I am obviously not correctly "building a NEW wall type" . Can you walk me through that process please?
  16. I did get the exterior wall at roof level changes corrected, thank you.
  17. That changes every interior wall in the house, I have tried using breaks in the wall to get specifically the section I want, but the program pops up a warning that I am changing the exterior side of an exterior wall (not true, I am changing the bathroom side of an interior wall on an interior bathroom), and random walls throughout the house change. I am clicking on the specific wall I want, going to wall definitions, wall types, define, and changing one side to green board, (materials/wallboard/4x8/green board) leaving the other side drywall, on one particular wall.
  18. I can not find those topics in help, and have a couple other issues that I need some guidance on. First, I have changed the roof design to full gable, and where there is a height difference in roofs, the walls are not showing up in the exterior sections between the level changes. I am sure that once I get the walls to appear, I will have the same issue with wall coverings in that area. Is there a way that you can show me how to make this happen? Second, I am working with the material lists to get this job bid done, and certain materials will not show up in the list, and will not show up in the model. Prime example would be that I want all bathrooms, kitchen and laundry to have greenboard wall board. I have changed the room definition in the room dialog, and the green board will not populate in the list. I have attempted to change materials on the wall definition, and every wall in the house changes to one side drywall, one side green board, and the green board still does not populate in the list. I have tried working with that specific wall, and it changes every interior wall in the house. I am concerned that this is only the first material I have noticed, and that there will be others that I have to deal with in the same manner. How do I get the wet location rooms to be green board walls, and make the appropriate amount of green board to show up in the material list? I have watched the tutorial videos, and they just say that the material list populates it, in this case, and other cases for me in the past, this is not the case, I am convinced that I am missing a button somewhere, just dont know where it is. I have been searching for resolutions in the help and forums for 2 days now, please assist. I have attached a pdf export pic of the roof situation and my plan drawing of the entire house. shower design

I have read through the help manuals and tried several things, and cant seem to find the right button. This is something that I will end up doing quite often, and a little help would be much appreciated. I need the half glass pony wall in front of the shower to be tile on the edge, the bottom section of the same wall in the shower door opening to have a tile top, and I need to put in a solid bench seat at the right end of the shower. From what I have read on the bench seat, it has to do with foundation settings to basically pull the floor up, but everything I have tried has been unsuccessful. Final goal is a tile shower wall with a tile border wrapping the opening on the outside of the shower by about 4". on the same note, I would like to draw in inset shelving in the shower walls, have not even attempted that yet. multiple porches

I have now been unsuccessfully attempting to draw 2 porches on a house for 6 hours, quite frustrated at this point. I will attempt to attach my current drawing and a drawing representing what I want. for some reason, the back porch appears by drawing in a room divider in the exterior alcove, marking roof over and ceiling over this area and defining it as a porch. The front porch will not draw in the slab, will not let me roof it the way I want, (half the time it deletes the majority of the roof in the rest of the structure). I have noticed in the room description dialogue that the back porch sets in parameters for the stem wall top, the front porch will not give me that option. I have drawn both using the same methods, one works, one does not. collins.plan The file is my current project, the pic is what I am attempting to draw, with the exception that both front and back porches are inset into alcoves by 3', where the pic shows flat faces across the entire building. The front porch should extend 5' out from the front of the building. Please help....I am 6 hours invested and dont even have the exterior walls/roof drawn on this one. collins.plan

    multiple porches

I stand corrected, just found the button to get back to wall view.

    multiple porches

this seems to work, sort of. I have followed your video exactly, messed it up, and started over several times. My software is not reacting the same as yours. One of my main issues is that when I click auto rebuild foundations, it deletes all my walls and gives me a foundation view with no walls visible. perspective view shows me that they do still exist, but I cannot get back to them. This method still builds the first porch correctly, but the second one will not fill in like it shows in your video. How do I get back to my plan view with walls, and off of the foundation view? I cannot find this issue in tutorial videos or reference manuals, 2 full days now on trying to build in one simple roof line. What am i doing wrong? I am aware that there is most likely one simple button that I cannot find to correct this issue. and for some reason now i cannot upload my plan to show what my problem is.
