Yes, thank you, I have found posting the question while doing that helps so that if someone posts a response some time it's not the "thing" that you were looking for but sometime it's the "thing" next to the "thing" that gets you there....thanks and I assume the stairwell tools is something I overlooked, thanks!

If I create stairs on a first floor and pull them up into a second floor why don't they show up when I move to the second floor and how do I correct this?

Wall anomaly
in Q&A
I fixed it by going back through each interior wall on each floor and pulling them back to pull a clean exterior wall. On to the next challenge!

Benson, what a great challenge, I admire and wish you success! I love SketchUp too and it is a great tool for modeling.

porch area
in Q&A
Yes, Solver thank you and it was one of the HD videos that allowed me to get as far as I did with this but I'm not yet finding some of the custom features yet, alas I will keep searching.
Thank you,

porch area
in Q&A
Questions....
1. I'm trying to remove the front portion of railing on this porch while retaining the beam?
2. I'm also trying to remove the posts next to the house and wrap the beam in trim?
3. If there is a way to change the posts to a column or decorative posts I'm searching for those solutions too?
Thank you,

This grayed out area sometimes fills in adjacent rooms or spaces if there is not the proper demarcation. One used to have to use an invisible wall but I'm just returning to use the program after a couple years away.

Peer groups
in Q&A
I'm not sure ...and I will try to better define it....I think using Chief is much like learning a language and that you need regular practice and to always be improving your design vocabulary. I find myself getting stuck lots of times for want of a simple technique or solution that is an impediment to moving forward. For instance I'm working on terrain now and watching videos and practicing and having some practice items along with study might help....or for instance two people looking to learn similar aspects of the program might help each other. I have had some exposure to using HD in the past but now I am using it full time and planning to move to Chief as soon as possible.

Peer groups
in Q&A
Hello, I was wondering if there exists a small peer group of Chief or Home Designer Students that meet online or share learnings?

I am curious too as I enjoy using Sketch Up when I can.

Thank you, yes, I get to this point and the popup box freezes. I end up having to hit escape to get out of it. I'm going to chat with tech support. I highlight the item with eyedropper, highlight the materials, move to the material dialogue box but the drop down box is not selectable, and even "cancel" does not work and I have to hit escape. program glitch perhaps

Thank you Solver, I'm not able to change the material for a railing or paint it at the moment, still trying to find this...

Thank you David, by hunting around and checking a number of things I discovered that my subfloor absolute number and my terrain elevation data was off, I came up with a hand over hand solution but I'm still trying to figure out how to adjust different inputs.
Here is my latest iteration, I managed to get close but I am struggling to lower the grade around the front of the house where there is a walk out basement. See attached, is this a function of data related to the inside floor or something preset in the terrain data? Thank you and any advice is appreciated.

I'm following along with this video https://www.homedesignersoftware.com/videos/watch/10144/home-designer-landscape-design.html
The contour lines are not showing up, is there a button/icon that I have deactivated?
So I was missing the build terrain button, got that worked out and now my building is separated from my house....I think this is the subfloor elevation setting....hunting for that one next....
