1 1/2 Story, different starting points

Recommended Posts

I'm trying to create a roof on a 1.5 story project.

In the attached example, the gable's roof starts about 24" above the floor of the second story, while the left side of the house' roof essentially starts right above the walls of the 1st floor (ignore 2nd floor walls option, essentially).

How do you do such a thing in HD Pro 21?

Should you: 1) Create second story 2) divide with interior wall 3) set ceiling height of higher section to be 24" 4) Build Roofs checking "Ignore 2nd floor walls" 5) reset Structure-> Finished Ceiling height to default.

Would that work, or is there a better process/method?

*** I see you said Pro 2021 ***

Answers often depend on which title (Suite, Pro etc) and version (2018, 2019 etc) you are using.

You can help everyone by adding that info to your signature (see below for how to turn them on) by clicking on your user name at the top right of the page, click Account Settings, then Signature on the left.

Doing so makes it always available, and keeps others from having to hunt for it.

And, turn on signature display too.

Many questions have been asked and answered. The Home Designer website is a good place to start your search.

Plenty of roof videos on the Chief YouTube channel and website, my YouTube channel and DJP (David Potter) YouTube as well.

Post back with questions if you get stuck.
