eganders
I can't find a way to change the display of a dimension from feet and inches to feet and decimal fractions of a foot. I know I can enter decimal fractions of a foot, but how can I force the program to display the dimension as 9.75 ft instead of 9 ft 9 in? Is this available in Home Designer? Is it only available in certain versions?
mbarcus
Not sure in your program, but in HD PRO 2014, go to edit, default setting, dimensions. There you can set to number of decimal places and can set to feet.
eganders
Thanks mbarcus that worked. Out of curiosity, what made you choose PRO over one of the other lower priced products?
Kbird1
curious.....so in the newer versions you can set decimal places in Imperial (US) plans? and it will actually display as 9.75ft ? not that I'm sure why you would do this ? except for elevation data , nobody works in decimal feet that I have seen ? maybe I am just lucky ? decimal feet are a PITA working onsite and only having a standard tape measure for sure. Dan_Park
Decimal feet is often used to display survey data for plot plans as well as elevations. Surveyors and engineers often prefer decimal ft because it's easier to input measurements into a computer or calculator that way. Most people will prefer to have walls layed out in ft and in though. It's nice to have the option to change how dimensions are displayed.
