Angie, I'm seriously considering reverting to Pro 2024. How would I do that? Thanks Eric Intel Core i5 11th-gen 1TB NVMe stick SSD 32GB DDR4 RAM Radeon RX 9070 XT 16G graphics

TericS started following Material Transparency Control on PRO 2026???
-
I saw another post asking the same question, and I user commented that Pro 2026 does not allow for material transparency adjustment. I reposted this under a more descriptive title, hoping to catch more attention and more answers. HOW CAN THIS BE??? Not able to adjust transparency of an object??? Customizing color and transparency of glass is very important to me. Had I known about this downgrade, I would have never "upgraded" to Pro 2026! But the 2026 User Reference Manual has a whole section about material transparency, at P.793: see blow MATERIAL DEFINITIONS Textures are graphic files that represent contoured surfaces of objects such as carpet, bricks, tile, and wood in rendered views. Textures are assigned to materials which in turn are assigned to objects. See Patterns and Textures on page 732. The display of materials in rendered views is controlled by settings on the TEXTURE and PROPERTIES panels of the Define Material dialog. See Define Material Dialog on page 748. Brightness, shininess and transparency control how light sources affect the display of surfaces in rendered views. See Lighting on page 794. If no texture is selected for a material, a solid color is used instead. MATERIAL TRANSPARENCY Most materials are opaque while some materials, such as glass, are partially transparent. Transparency can be set in the Define Material dialog. See Properties Panel. Transparency is supported in all Rendering Techniques. Most Rendering Techniques, however, have an Opaque Window Glass setting that, when checked, overrides the transparency of the Glass components of exterior doors, exterior windows, and interior windows. Interior doors with Glass components are unaffected. When this box is checked, Glass components display the Material Color assigned to their material. See Rendering Technique Options on page 814. SO SOMEONE PLEEEEEASE TELL ME the function has not gone away, just accessed differently than before? Thanks! Thanks Solver. I don't immediately understand your response. I'll have to look up :floor framing" in the manual. Teric HD Pro 2017 (Prev Pro 2014 and Architectural) Intel Sandy Bridge i5 16 GB RAM Nvidia G-Force GTX 660, 2 GB

This is what I do to draw from an existing drawing, regardless of file type. I 1st covert the drawing to a picture image (e.g. jpg or png). Import the image into my plan. Then draw one exterior wall to the known specified dimension. Then I resize the jpg (using the image handle) to match the wall I drew to get to the right scale. Once you sized the jpg to the right scale, you can just trace the rest of the drawing (and place fixtures) without any calculations/measurements. The sizing of the jpg will never be exact - but I suspect you're just trying to visualize your build in 3D - for that purpose, it's accurate enough. An extra step, if you choose, is to use an image editor (or just Power Point) to set the background color of your drawing to transparent. That way, when you draw over it, you can still see the dimension grids. Attached is an example of a drawing image (in png) that you can import to your plan for tracing. Thanks Dave. I remember you from years ago when I occasionally lurked in Home Talk. Nice YouTube vid. You do that professionally? I extended the wall polyline as you suggested - and the wall does cover the gap. If I pull each of the exterior wall up, it'll hide the gaps. But I'm not sure it solves the underlying glitch, which may come back to haunt me at some point. So, unless I can find out what happened that caused the gaps in, I think I'll start the drawing from scratch. As one last ditch effort to figure out what went wrong, I attach my file here for anyone interested to poke around. Hope one of you geniuses can tell me what went wrong. As stated in signature, I'm using Pro 2017. The signature also includes hardware info in case this is a hardware resource issue. I'd like to attach my plan for your review - but I can't find an attach/upload button. How do I do that? "Have you built floor framing?" I went and checked "autorebuild framing" - No change. In the 20 some houses I've drawn with an HD product (Architectural and Pro) I never had to tell the app to build framing. Any help appreciated. The exterior full overview render of my project has "separated floor" - see attached picture - some how the floor platforms didn't get generated in the render. What's wrong? I've built a 5-story townhome after I upgraded to Pro2017 - no problem at all. I thought I must have changed some defaults that resulted in this. So far I've spent several days and many hours checking every tab in Default Setting and unable to find what I changed. HELP!!!
