Answers often depend on which title (Suite, Pro etc) and version (2018, 2019 etc) you are using.

You can help everyone by adding that info to your signature (see below for how to turn them on) by clicking on your user name at the top right of the page, click Account Settings, then Signature on the left.

Doing so makes it always available, and keeps others from having to hunt for it.

And, turn on signature display too.

Thank you for the reply and for the signature reminder.  I've searched for the problem but can't seem to find it.

  2. What you can do is to create an image file that looks like such a sign.

    Save that image.

Import that image as a "Custom Material" into your Library Browser

Once there you can assign it as a "Materials" to sign like object (such as a soffit) set to "Stretch to Fit" and then the soffit will display your "sign" custom material.

This Knowledge Base Help Article may also be of help.

    Thank you!!

  3. 3D Warehouse is the most commonly used. It is unusual for me to need other objects but when I do, I merely "search" for them. There are sites that offer 3D symbols of actual objects that a company sells but they are specific to what that company sells. If you search, you will find whatever is there to find.

  4. I have solved the problem!  I talked to technical support and they looked at my plan.  The person said those rooms must have been assigned a different style of room or name.  She had me delete the hallway wall that connects to the rooms, then delete any wall that would open up the hotel interior rooms to the hallway.  This then matched the settings in the hotel rooms to the hallway.  I then saved the program, closed out, reopened the program, and rebuilt the walls.  The floor is now there and all the walls look normal.

Thank you for all of your advice!

  5. Because you are using Suite , I was using the 2015 Pro Trial to look at your Plan ( you could download it too if you;d like to look at it) as I have Pro 10 so can't open your plan otherwise.

Are your Floor defaults set up properly for each floor ?

did you perhaps make the a Room on the ground 1st ( as seen off to the side of your main building)  and then move it over and up ?    not sure why you have those settings on most of the upper floor rooms

is the pic above from the 1st floor or the 2nd ? are they the same?........... 1st I think as I see no 2nd floor

try this.......do a "save as" and in the new plan try deleting the foundation and see what happens , it's easy to rebuild it when needed....

then check each Floors Defaults in Edit>defaults>Floor  look at the DBX's title and make sure it is for Floor 1 , make sure all is good , then move upto level 2 and do the same again

Worse comes to worse you might want to send/link the plan to a Tech Support Ticket and see what they think , if nothing else they maybe able to fix it for you and send it back ,since you have done so much work on it. With luck you wont have to redo the 2nd floor..... With only the Trial Version it is not something I can do for you....

Thanks for the message.  I have attached the floor numbers I used on each floor.  I did originally use those rooms off of the main building as templates, copying them and then placing into the plan.  Once the rooms were in the building, I would copy them using the edit area tool.  I did the same thing for rooms on the first floor with no problem at first.  The picture on the left is 1st floor and the picture on the right is the 2nd floor in my earlier post. Part of my second floor is functioning and has a floor while the other half does not.  I just added a third floor to the building and had no problems.  All of the rooms there have flooring.  On the third floor, all of the rooms are the same so I copied the correct room from the second floor and duplicated it on the third.

I tried what you recommended with the foundation and it did not change.  I have noticed that the correct rooms on the second floor have a  "ceiling below" of 102".  In these rooms, default is checked for ceiling below".  On the rooms with no floor,  "ceiling below" default is not selectable and is stuck at 114 5/8".

The pictures attached are the defaults for floor 1 and floor 2 as they currently are.

    Thank you again.

  6. Eric is right, most of the 2nd floor rooms have this issue, ie the whole front and about 1/3 of the rooms on the back but if Suite doesn't have this option on the Room Tab what does it have?

    Issue areas

    attachicon.gifProblem areas Flr2 overview.JPG

selecting walls will show problem areas too

    Yours Room heights settings

What it should look like I think note unchecked foundation supplied by room below and all other settings at Default

your stairwell "lining"??? is also too tall (and a short closet in pic)

Thanks for looking at my plan.  The options you have displayed for the floor on Room Specifications are not available to me.  I don't know why.  Here attached are the options that display for me.

  7. By the way, did you enclose your second floor with walls when you ordered it created? No walls equals no floor or walls and I see in your images no floor or walls that define the second floor. What did you do or not do please?

    DJP

PS: I am busy working on a couple of paid projects and thus have little time for gratis work, sorry. You post the plan and others can at least look and help

Yes I did enclose the second floor prior to placing the rooms.

  8. Thanks for all of your help folks!

If you go to the second floor, you will see that some of the rooms do not have a floor.  I also noticed that the walls, mainly on the first floor, were all different in height.  I went to areas of the building that did not have this problem and their finished ceiling height was 107 5/8".  I went to the rooms with the issue and adjusted the finished ceiling height in most of them to 107 5/8".  While this lowered the walls back to a normal level, it still looks strange and there is no upstairs floor.  I would appreciate any support you can offer.

    Thank you!

  9. You can also use free services like "Google Drive" and "Dropbox" for files too large for directly posting here (you post a hyperlink to such files instead of the file) so any size file can easily be shared thereby here.

Thanks!  If I upload the plan, would you mind taking a look?  Thank you again!

  10. "Open Below" is a room type set in the Room Specification dialog. It's below Office in the list. It is used for stairwells, and other 2 story spaces.

Gotcha.  Mine are set to bedrooms and bathrooms.  No open below.  Thanks for the tips.

  11. Check your Room Specifications > Structure, and make sure settings are the same in all rooms.

Second floor make sure rooms are defined and not Open Below.

Thanks for the info. I set the rough height of the walls to 102", which seemed to lower the walls back to where they normally were.  Some rooms will not lower to the same place and the rooms still have no floor.  Also, where is the open below option?

    Thank you!

  12. Hello,

I am trying to model a hotel property.  Everything has been going well until I noticed about half of my second floor rooms are missing the button floor and you can see to the first floor.  This happened in the past on the first floor due to the foundation not being over the area or missing walls.  That problem was quickly resolved.  This time, I have checked all the walls, and they are all there.  I noticed this issue because every time I would attempt to place a second story window, it would put it on the first floor.  I have noticed that on the first floor, some walls are randomly taller than other walls.  Could this be the issue?  I have deleted and remade some of the taller walls but it keeps placing them at the same heights.  I have attached pictures of the issue.  Any ideas?  As you can see in the pictures, the first floor looks normal but has odd wall heights that I cannot seem to change, and the second floor looks normal but has no floor where the walls had higher heights from the first floor.

    Thank you for your help!

  13. I prefer 2D images for people as fully 3D life forms either look ugly (angular and unreal) or if very well done have so many 3D faces (facets) that their presence overwhelms most PC's ability to render them (that is why I prefer 2D images, they look better and do not stress my PC's rendering hardware).
