  1. When I put a door in here, to me it looks like it needs something to attach to inside those red rectangles.  Can someone show me the correct way to draw this?

    It's a 36" gate between two concrete walls, one parallel to the gage, one perpendicular to the gate.

  2. Panel on the inner most rail will be the active panel.
    In Home Designer Pro 2021 this is considered a left slider, and its label gets 'LS' after the size.

    Go to your window supplier and ask them if you would get the image in the picture below if you order an 'LS' window.

  3. I know this is an old post, but Home Designer Pro 2021 has this same issue.
    Home Designer Pro 2021 also places the sliding portion of the window on the outside rather than where it should be, on the inside.  I'm not sure why this wasn't understood.  It's a HUGE annoyance because you can't just flip them as then the Window Schedule is incorrect.  If left as is, this will be an issue in the field and Murphy's Law will take effect.

    The triple sliders draw correctly with the window that slides being on the inside track.   XOX

  4. I found a work around.  Create the angled soffit with the lower part in the back, then transform it vertically.  This seems to stay in place when you close the file and reopen it.

    EDIT A DAY LATER to add:  For what it's worth, the work around doesn't fully work either, I just found out.  Some of the soffits tend to revert back to square, for no apparent reason.

    Then don't.

    Click (left click) to select, only right click if you want the Context Menu.

    For what it's worth, left click doesn't work when you are creating moldings out of soffit with a perspective camera view.

    That's a contextual (context) menu. Like in most every other application, it's accessed by right clicking on something.

    Agree, I clicked on the soffit (vertical trim on the window), it brings up the context menu.  The problem is that I wanted to resize the trim and the context window always places itself on top of the handle I need to use to resize the item.  I have the same problem with roof planes and other areas.

  7. Why is it that this menu box constantly comes up on top of the handles I need for the item I selected?  Is there some setting I can change to stop this behavior?  If I keep clicking, sooner or later I'll be able to access the needed handle, but it's hit or miss until I somehow click in the 'right' place.  This has been doing this for years, and I've finally just had enough of it to ask the question.

    Well it is entirely up to the individual....I have tried this before on simple envelope profiles set by local authorities;

    I use the 'Driveway Area', tool which hugs the terrain when it is placed;

    Elevate this via the specification to 6.000M (20') in respect of what you need for the build envelope;

    Terrain To Top - becomes the height for the envelope you need;

    Make it to be glass or other transparent material you so desire;

    Heres one I made earlier.

    Bingo.

    PS - It will cut out or clip the build area but it's a compromise as the height plane can be elevated..

    Unless you unselect 'Hide terrain intersected by building' in the terrain spec.

    Plus -if you specify the thickness same as the height - it will show as a box to contour.

    Perfect.  Thanks.

  9. Is there a way in Home Designer Pro 2021 to create a transparent building envelope, 30' tall, that follows the natural terrain?  (Terrain is already incorporated in the plan.)  I found this picture on the Chief Architect forum to explain what it is I am looking to do.

  10. 2023-01-10 UPDATE:  It's a problem in the program's coding.  There is no way to avoid this.

    Can someone tell me how to stop the text from shifting left and up more and more with each export to .dwg?  Open the attached .plan files in numeric order and you will see what I mean.  Sure, I could just do the export once, but there is still a shift and sometimes you need to add more views and upload the entire file to a CAD file again.  Keeping a Master file would be an option, but the first .dwg export still shifts all the text.  I didn't zip these because I didn't want any other factors added to the mix of what could be causing this problem.

  11. Nice. Then what's the point?
    Plinth blocks do not display in 3D views, but are counted in the Materials List.  Nobody adds something to a feature and then double checks that it is on the material list.  You might as well just count the doors.

  12. I just turned them on in both, unless there is something else that needs to be done.  I still don't see plinth blocks in camera view.  Tried it on the exterior door going out to balcony.  Options, plinth blocks checked.  Also tried dragging the plinth block from library browser and pasting it.  Nothing.

  13. David,

    I wonder if that's because I didn't zip the materials.  I have it right here.  When clicking on it I get two different icons depending on where I am on the plan. One of the icons just changes the color of the trim that is there, and the icon that looks like the profile of a baseboard, does nothing.

  14. Thanks DavidJPotter.  That was it.  I had to change it to select intersected objects.  Sometimes the simple things are not so obvious.  I tried searching for it in the manual and in the videos but never used the word "marquee".

  15. I used to be able to drag a selection around cabinets, beds, desks, washers, etc, and it wouldn't matter if I had part of the wall selected. As long as the entire wall wasn't selected, the only things that I could move with this selection are the things COMPLETELY selected.  I must have turned off some setting, but I'd like to get that feature back.  I've tried the edit area features and those don't see to give me what I want.  What do I need to reset to get the 'normal' selection feature back to normal?  That is, how can I just select only those items fully within the selection area?

  16. Thank you.  I thought I was going crazy trying to figure it out.  I will submit it as bug report.

    I believe you can avoid that outcome by separating the large cabinet that encloses the fridge from the drawers. It is unwanted behavior and you should have been able to do what you at first intended, you may want to send this to Tech Support as part of a bug report. My advice is to split the one large cabinet into two cabinets and I will bet that this time, the drawers line up properly. Any software has pre-programmed limitations built into it and I think you just found one.

  17. Please, can anyone tell me why these three cabinet drawer faces are not centered on the drawer box?  When you close the drawer it completely overlays the right stile, and but does not overlay the left stile the same amount.  As far as I can tell, both stiles are 2".

    Thank You.
