  1. I was going to say "I am not seeing anything." I chose Tools\ Materials List\Calculate Materials for Room and nothing happens even when I had that room selected. This is a small project and I am not drawing an entire house. Your response caused me to try other options, such as Materials list for all floors and that DID generate a materials list. Calculate from Area also works. So I guess that I am now wondering where, when, and how I should use the Materials List from Room ...
  2. I am trying to figure out how to use the materials list to get a useable list of cabinets, appliances, fixtures and their sizes for the purposes of costing out a kitchen design. I am using Home Designer Architectural and have read the manual. I am not seeing options that I think should exist. Am I missing something? For example, the manual shows that in display options there should be a General option. I am not seeing that option and I am wondering if that option is only available in the Pro version of Home Designer. If that is the case I will be very unhappy...
  3. I am having a hard time figuring out how to properly use the dimensions features within Home Designer Architectural 2016. Say, for example, that I drop a pass through into a wall. I need to know that I accurately placed that pass-through within the wall; a specific distance from one end or the other. The same goes for doors and windows, light switches and outlets. Temporary dimensions measure between objects and the tape measure goes away when you release the mouse button. These are objects within objects and I am not even measuring from the end of the wall, but from the inside surface of joined walls to the point at which the pass-through starts As an example the interior dimensions of the kitchen that I am working on are 11' 5' by 16'-11 1/4". I inserted a 5' wide pass-through in the longer wall that should be 35" from one corner and 34 1/2" from a 36" door also placed in that wall. I can't figure out how to prove that I have them placed correctly. And, I want those dimensions to show on the floor plan view. Church Kitchen.plan It may be obvious, but I am a newcomer/
  4. I am trying to build a model of a kitchen for the purposes of remodeling it. I am new to the products and my initial attempts at building this model show dimensions using measurements from what I think are the exterior wall surfaces. I noticed something about measurements also coming from the center of the walls. But I can only measure the interior wall surfaces and it is only the interior space that I am concerned about for accuracy of the model, such as how much space I have for cabinets and where to place electrical outlets and switches, etc. How do I tell home designer to use the interior walls for the purpose of recording dimensions?
