  1. @LawB10, in my other thread about appliance placement, you said:

get rid of the poly lines you don't need them

Delete the fireplace from the foundation

raise the terrain pad by lowering the number

Use a pass thru or doorway and place the fireplace on the outside wall, that way it won't show in the master bedroom

Uncheck the No Firebox, raise the fireplace to the height you want it.

Resize the fireplace defaults to what you want.

I'm not sure what you mean by the polylines. Are you referring to my chimney?

Are you on a different tier than I am? I'm on HDPro 2016 and I can't see an option to raise the firebox. Only spec its width and left-to-right offset.

    Thanks,

  2. As far as I can tell, I'm using the Control key. (I'm on a Mac so in case it should be a different key, I believe I've tried Shift, Option, and Command too.)

I've attached my plan. In the first floor kitchen area, I've left the microwave in front of the cabinet it's meant to go in. In the bar, I've left a wine fridge. If you can get this to work, I'd love to know how since I plan to do the same exercise with the oven and fridge.

    Thanks!

  3. Thanks. I'd read through those but none were a perfect fit. Here's what I ended up doing (there's still one open question):

    - use the Build->Fireplace tool with a material of white brick. Because the hearth is a different material and the chimney was already drawn on the house exterior, I turned both off.

    - created a mantel with the Shelf tool since it's a simple block of cherry.

    - I used room dividers to delineate where the hearth is and then changed the flooring material.

    - I placed a fireplace screen object that looks similar to my gas insert on the front of the brick, raising it off the floor since the Fireplace tool doesn't permit raised fireboxes.

One remaining issue: on the exterior of the house, there is now white brick showing where it is not covered by the exterior brick chimney. How to deal with that? I can't get HDPro to move the brick inward off that edge of the wall.

    Thanks,

  4. @David - I've had partial success. For the cooktop, I simply removed the old and placed the new one on top of the counter, adjusting distance from floor to make it look like it is mounted into the counter top.

The microwave is an undercounter, drawer type. I removed the existing generic one. In the dialog for the cabinet, I chose the Appliance opening and then it let me pick my Bosch microwave from my library. That's great except the microwave is hovering in front of the cabinet rather than in it. I tried deleting that from the cabinet and then just manually placing the appliance but again, it will let me place it over the floor in front of the cabinet but not in it. Any ideas?

    Thanks,

  5. I downloaded the 3D models of my exact kitchen appliances (I think from 3DWarehouse - it's been a while) and they're in my HDPro library. But when I try to drop them onto the appliances already in my plan to replace them, HDPro tells me "This will conflict with another object in the same position." But if I select an existing appliance object from HDPro's default library, it tells me, "This cabinet already has a fixture or appliance. Would you like to replace it?". Is it possible to tell HDPro that it can use my downloaded objects as appliances?

    Thanks,

  6. I'm somewhat new to HDPro so, although I'm sure I could make this work, I'd like to learn recommended best practice. I'm trying to model a section of wall with a fireplace. That section has white, painted brick from floor to ceiling. The fireplace is inset near the floor with a mantel above. The hearth is quartz set flush into the hardwood floor.

    - I'm wondering if for the brick portion, I should create wall breaks for it, specify a new wall type with brick interior surface, and use that? Then spec the mantel as a shelf (it doesn't have columns)?

    - How can I model the hearth? I can see making a "room" with room dividers and then using a different flooring material. I guess it would work but seems conceptual overkill to call it a room. Is there a more appropriate way?

    Thanks,

  7. I'm trying to model an existing bar in HDPro 2016. I have the bar drawn with a textured glass counter top. That and the cabinets it sits on look fine. Problem is, the existing bar has a piece of 3/4" plywood wrapped in stainless steel sandwiched between the glass top and the cabinets. How can I model this in HDPro? Right now in a 3D view, I can see through the glass and into the tops of the cabinets.

    Thanks,

  8. I'm trying to add a shed dormer to an existing plan. I'd like the roof to start at the existing ridge line and continue down to an existing knee wall. Using the Auto Dormer tool, it wants me to specify a slope for the new dormer. Specifying 4:12 is too steep and puts the back of the dormer behind the ridge line and spec'ing 3:12 puts the back of the dormer in front of and below the existing ridge line. What I need is something in the middle like 3.5:12 but it's going to take a lot of trial and error to find the right slope number. Is there a way for HDPro to figure that number out for me instead? What I'd love is to simply say "make a shed dormer from here to here" and have it fill in the blanks.

    Thanks,
