  1. @solver, thank for the pony wall suggestion. Worked like a charm. Excellent. For anyone else looking and is a novice like me, see below for the configuration (I also removed the bottom rail from the railing section): Which results in a nice continuous bottom rail:
  2. Hey DJP, so I can't find anything that helps (if I am missing something feel free to point the way)! So I guess this is a defect in the app. It's pretty minor but annoying.
  3. S/W: Home Designer Pro 2024 Ok, so I have some railings within my house, and they do have newels connecting them at various spots. I have those in the plan ok BUT the bottom rail seems not to connect correctly when there are newels in place. See below for what I am talking about. Any settings or tricks to correct this? I have exhausted my ideas so far. If it matters, here is the plan view: And without newels the bottom rail is correct/complete: Cheers, Tony.
  4. Yeah, it can do some 'odd' things so auto-build is definitely on most of the time. I have gone back to the drawing board multiple times (reset all wall types, delete roof, begin again) but every iteration I get closer and understand a little more on how the roofing/automation works! I am wondering if 'home designer pro' would help a lot here or not? I am assuming there are a lot more variables that can change, manual edits, and so on.
  5. You got it -- the trick we the "ceiling finish" in those front rooms. Great! Thanks again. The front wall is not higher BUT the inside ceiling remains at the same level. Just what I wanted. Just copying some screenshots for others if they have the same situation below ...
  6. Software: Home Designer Architect 2024. Ok, novice here -- I am modeling our current home and have got most of the first two floors in the program. I am now trying to model the roof. One area that impacts how the roofs lie is a 'feature' on our house where the front wall of the main portion is higher (by about 4-5 ft) than the garage portion. Any thoughts on how I do this in the program -- a 3rd (very low floor)? Something in the attic layer? Here is what I have so far with the section I need to heighten circled -- and a snip of the actual house frontage. Do I need 'pro' to make these kind of adjustments?
  7. Thanks @solv and @Rookie65 for such quick response. The invisible wall trick I could see being helpful in several situations! Yeah, it's a big jump of $$ BUT I'll keep track and then maybe ... A long way to go yet (I am recreating our current house so I can experiment with designs, paints, and garden designs).
  8. Hi all, new to architect but could not find much around newels and my current challenge of an 'embedded' Newel. I have an internal railing around a 'open below' section and the 'newels' are turned on. I cannot seem to figure out how to stop the end Newel being embedded into the wall it attaches to. Actually, it'd be nice to be able to place newels only where I want them in the railing but ... just addressing this would be good enough. I am using Home Designer Architectural 2024.
