  1. That's all true, but..... Eh. I'm not handing this off to a builder. I would hand it off to an architect or engineer as an example to follow of what I want, and let them fill in minor details like that. In any case, it doesn't explain why the garage was not displaying at zero.
  2. I'm using Home Designer Architect 2023. Signature changed. So the gable sort of does what I want, but not quite. I want the height of the walls of the sloped section to go down from the full height of the second floor to zero at the "top side" (top of the screen in my picture). I did search the forums, but found no help there. That may simply because I don't know what this is even called. Thanks for your help.
  3. The deck tool, as far as I can tell, is only for wood decks. So how do you build a raised stone patio? I know how to do it in real life. Build a retaining wall. Backfill. Place stone. Can't figure out how to do it in the software. I figured out how to make retaining walls locate rooms, but I can't figure out how to make the retaining wall go all the way up to the floor. Help is appreciated.
  4. I know what I want to do. I have no idea what the technical term for what I want to do is, so I can't figure out how to explain to the software. I have a two story building. There is nothing above the kitchen, so I want to have the hallway above look out over the kitchen. My thinking is to have the 2nd story ceiling come out flat 5' from the railing, then angle down to meet the 1st floor ceiling. I know this exists in real life, as my sister has exactly this kind of thing in her house. Some help on how to get the software to do this would be appreciated. Thanks.
  5. Title says it all. The garage floor is at zero. The terrain is at zero. But when I fire up the camera, it shows the garage a foot or two above the drive way. Fixed: As I was posting this it occurred to me I never designated this as a garage. That fixed the problem, although I don't really understand why. Zero should still be Zero. Posting anyway because someone else may have the same problem. And maybe I'll learn something new if someone can explain why.
  6. Edit: Ah! They changed the way their search engine works. Found apple trees on Sketchup. Question still stands though, you can never have too many good sources.
  7. Just looking for recommendations for 3D model sources that are compatible with the more recent editions (just upgraded to Home Architect 2023). While Chief Architect does have a lot of content, there are things I'm looking for they don't seem to have in any of the libraries available to home users. In my case, particularly edible plant type stuff like fruit trees. https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/ <--- Solid source, though it doesn't seem to be as good as it used to be. Nothing turned up for "apple tree". Really? I'm the only person on the planet that wants a model of an apple tree? I suspect a conspiracy by the American Medical Association frankly. Any other good suggestions for libraries, whether free or paid? I don't mind putting out a few shekels for good content. Thanks!
