  1. I'm working on mapping our plot with is on a slope and contains inconsistent and terrain drops and retaining walls. I'm trying to use as few complex terrain shapes/contour lines as possible to allow me to map in details the plot's slopes. Unfortunately I'm only half way through mapping the terrain and am experiencing the following "Terrain Interpolator is ignoring terrain breaks and retaining walls due to complexity of the calculation" when building terrain. As an example I've recently tried to map the stepped/sloped terrain at one side of the property. I've placed elevation regions with appropriate elevations for the steps added terrain breaks in between each elevation region to form a step This technique worked for 3 steps and then Terrain Interpolator occurs stopping any further retaining walls or terrain breaks from being used anywhere else. My questions are: are there any settings (possibly hidden configuration files ?) that allow complex calculations at the expense of rendering/modelling time. as can be seen in Terrain-permiter.png file the plot is very long and thin. Can I limit the area to be included in any calculations, hence permitting further retaining walls and terrain modelling? Is this a limit of the Home Designer Pro 2021 on MacOs? Should I be trying to model the terrain in such detail in this product in the first place? Is it only designed for simple even slopes? Thanks in advance for any help as I've been struggling to find the best approach to model the terrain before even attempting to progress to modelling the house. ( note I've added a simple basic building for reference only ).
  2. The following images show the 3D Camera view with the LOW Triangle Count and LOW Terrain Smoothing settings. As you can imagine I'm hesitant to continue if as soon as I increase details settings things break. Am I doing something wrong, what are the rules regarding terrain/contours ( this seems to be a common problem from looking on the forum but I cannot seem to find a definitive summary of the rules ) should terrain features and contour lines expanding beyond the terrain perimeter ? should contour lines and elevation regions cross/intersect ? can terrain smoothing help fix this issue? Any help / advice appreciated as
  3. Hello, I'm attempting to learn the terrain modelling techniques to best map my current landscape/terrain before embarking on modelling the existing house (I've placed a simple building to give context only). To learn what works and doesn't, especially with terrain breaks and retaining works, I've selected the lowest terrain specification options ( LOW Triangle Count and LOW Terrain Smoothing). This works well and 3D camera views are great. Whenever I attempt to increase the Triangle Count to MED or HIGH this seems to break things (introduces strange 3D artefacts) and the 3D camera view has extreme high and low elevation points. It also seems to introduce numerous contour lines near the terrain boundary that relate to these spikes and troughs. These pictures show the settings and what I've tried to describe.
  4. Thanks I've tried using a variety of elevation lines / splines and had some success.
  5. Terrain Question: How can I plot an elevation line that is sloping at a constant rate/angle? Imagine two elevation points, one at 62.1m and another at 63.8m. I wish to join these with a straight line to form an sloped elevation line. Is this possible in any of the ChiefArchitect products, Im using Home Designer Pro 2021. Thanks in advance.
