    Gable over porch

    CA-USER-DB posted a topic in Q&A

    I know this is a basic problem for most, but why am I getting a separate gable over the porch, when all I want to do is extend the main roof down over the porch? I changed the main wall and the porch railing to gable walls. Appreciate any help.

    Hello Kristine, while I understand that this might be undesirable from a design standpoint, it is a normal condition that I have seen more than once (see the photo of almost the exact same condition in my current home. It’s just the upper wall bearing on top of the top plate of the lower wall. Hope this helps. David B.
