  1. Hello, I'm a newbie and having problems with an extraneous roof plane being generated.  See the attached file of the floor plan and framing perspective views.

I have roofed-over porches on both the front and back of the house for screened porches.  The program generates the gull wing roof correctly, with the lower planes resting on the exterior wall of the porches (as they should).  However, as you can see in the framing perspective, it also generates a roof plane 'overhang' that rests on the interior wall of the porches.

As you can see in the floor plan, only one end of the house includes both the front and back porches.  It is only on this end of the house that the extraneous roof planes are generated.

I can manually delete these extraneous roof plans, but the next time I do a 'Build Roof', the extraneous planes again appear.  I've searched the forum but can't seem to find any posts on a similar topic that apply to this situation.

Thank you for any help you can provide.

Search the forum and Knowledge Base for your answer.

Solver - I did try searching the forum, and it was of no help in answering this question.  If you know of a post that does address this, could you point me in the right direction?  Thanks.

In any Architectural software application all objects are "virtual", it is you who "says" what they represent, so piers and pads are merely cylindrical or square objects that you merely say are piers and or pads. These can be pads and piers form the Build Menu or just shapes you custom shape and place to represent piers and or pads.

Hi DavidJPotter - Thanks for your answer.  I suspected as much - thanks for confirming how to do this.

  3. Hello,

I am designing a home that has a stem wall foundation around the perimeter.  I would like to add additional concrete pads/piers that are interior to this perimeter stem wall and which will provide additional support for the beams supporting the house floor.  Can anyone explain how to do this?

  4. How do I take a standard cabinet (48") which, when I pull it from Library has only a set of doors, and divide the cabinet vertically.  In the right one-third, I need a false drawer (top) and 3 true drawers.  In the left 2/3 of the cabinet, I need a false drawer on top and a set of double doors (hinged to open in the middle).  This is for a bathroom vanity that will have a small sink in the centered in the countertop.

  5. I am new to the Pro 2017 software and to CAD.  I am designing a house which will have a screened room.  The room will consist of 'posts' made of treated 2x4 studs.  The studs will span between the treated 2x4 floor plate and the two top plates (also to be treated).  'Posts' will be on 48" centers, and to reinforce the top plates (on which the roof will sit), immediately below the two top plates will sit a treated 2x6 which will itself rest on cripple studs.  See the PDF diagram I've attached below.

How do I go about 'drawing' this custom wall for my plan?

  6. I have the home design 'pro' version, but I am a definite amateur when it comes to this software.  I am trying to align two doors on opposite walls of a screened room.  One door enters into the screened room from outside the building.  The other door is on the wall which separates the screened room from the interior of the house itself.   I want the two doors to be aligned so that the hinged side is equidistant from the framing layer of the end of the porch.
