Wainscot on stairs walls and alternating wood floors

I have two questions. if you look at the two pictures, how do I design the "wainscoting" squares up the stairwell and how do I design the alternating wood on the floor? i want to design this exact design from the two pictures and I am designing my new house, not a professional.
