Ok, I found the answer. I checked every feature to display except for the elevation data. I then used the Edit Area (all Floors) Visible to move the plan. It worked.

Hello Solver, I tried to lock the elevation layer (Terrain, Elevation Data). When I use the Edit Area (All Floors) to move the plan, it still moves the elevation points even though they are locked. If I use the Edit Area (All Floors) Visible, it keeps the elevation data in place (which is good) but it does not move all I need. Any help? Best, Gustavo

Hello, I spent a lot of time making an elevation profile of my very-hilly lot (see attached picture). Home Designer imported that with no problem. My question is regarding moving the house within the lot. I cannot seem to find a way to only select the house, so every time I try to move it, I end up moving the elevation points, which screws up the elevation. Can I send the elevation points to a different layer but still make the elevation profile visible? The most import thing for me right now is to be able to nudge the house to be "just right", but I have to see the elevation profile for that. How can I do it without selecting the elevation points below the house? Best, Gustavo

Hello, California law requires calculation of the area of the house's windows. Is there an automated way to do this in Home Designer Pro 2016? It would be ideal if one could calculate the total square footage of windows per external wall, so that wall facing direction could be taken into account (North or South, for example). Best, Gustavo

Hello again David, I just solved the problem. Under the Deck "Structure" menu, I had the box "Floor Supplied by the Foundation Below" checked. When I unchecked it, the Deck moved out of the way, so I just rebuilt the overhang floor again and all is good. Thanks again for the help on this. Best, Gustavo

Thanks for looking at this again David. Take a look at the attachment illustrating what I need to move. Best, Gustavo Help - Home Designer_10-4-16_v2.pdf

Hello everyone, I'm having a problem with one of the walls of my overhanging structure. While one wall is sitting exactly where it is supposed to, on top of the beam below, the other is sitting on top of the deck. I can't seem to be able to move the structure below so it supports the wall. Please see the attached cross-section view for more clarity-the problem wall is on the right side of the cross-section circled in red. Thanks in advance. Hello David, I cannot thank you enough for looking over my plan. What I was missing was the change of "material" for the floor structure. I thought that function was purely cosmetic. By the way, the walls I had on the basement level was an attempt to force the software to build a frame above it. Now I just need to find out what that white sheet of material below the overhang is. Thanks again, Gustavo

Hello, I am stuck on this for several days. I'm designing a house on a hillside that is partially supported by a concrete slab and partially supported by posts, jetting out of the hillside (see pictures). I built the slab portion with no problems, but I cannot get the software to build the framing of the floor of the portion that will be supported by the posts. I have already looked at the "Creating a Structure that is Built on Piers" tutorial, but that technique doesn't seem to help a more complex terrain such as the one at hand. Do I need to build the frame manually or is there an easier way? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Help - Home Designer.pdf
