    Custom Layer

Is there a way to make a custom layer - and assign objects to be on that layer? Trying to separate some electrical objects - High-voltage from low voltage - and use different colors for each. I'm using 2015 Pro. Thanks!
  3. Yeah... something was definitely changed in bulk - and a very specific material was changed. But it is so odd - because I never did that. I have a saved version from a few hours before - so I can probably copy the room I was working on over to the pervious save (where the defaults are not corrupted). Thanks for the help. M
  4. I have no idea what happened, but my plan's defaults have suddenly changed. I now have gold textured outlets - gold textured window framing - gold textured door hardware - gold textured countertops - gold textured granite. So odd. See attached screen shots. I have NO idea how this happened. I can go into each default and try to figure out what the settings were I suppose - but that will be so hard. Also, there seems to be no way to change the default outlet color. Anyone know what I did, or can anyone help? This is terrible.
  5. @Jo_Ann - how did you angle the soffit to make the hand rail?
  6. Thanks for all the replies. I really appreciate the help. I love this software... but things like this take some experimentation. @Jo_Ann, @DJP - will try your suggestions. The images you posted look very promising. Not sure how to get that solid rail/wall to slant with the stair though. I do not have a "follow" stairs checkbox. But maybe I can fit it under the stairs and keep enough edge out to put a railing on it. Will try later tonight and post my results! Thanks! M
  7. Found this video - looks like it is exactly what I need - but I can't seem to figure out how to take the cross section to break the wall and take down the angle.
  8. Thanks for the response. I have HD Architectural 2015.
  9. I have attached a pic of what I am trying to do. (not the best angle, sorry). The stair configuration can be accomplished. But I am having trouble recreating the wall that the stairs going up turn behind. Notice how the wall is split. Part goes to the ceiling - part follows down the stair slope - and - the railing of the stairs - is ON TOP of the slant. The rail then turns around the edge of the tall wall and follows up the stairs as usual. I have concluded that the best approach is to build the stairs without railings and create the wall and railing combo on their own. But I can not figure out how to 1) build a slanted wall 2) put railings on top of the slanted wall. Any suggestions? Is there a better approach? Thanks in advance.
