  1. Between this response and another response for someone else who was having crazy roof gable issues, I think I have figured it out ---- thank you!!
  2. Ah, good to know CA for curved roofs, thanks So if I set all the slopes and other variables, will those be considered as I am drawing the roof if I have Auto Rebuild Roofs turned off? For example, I just tried using the Gable/Roof Line tool to try to build a gable in the middle portion of the front porch roof and it's not doing anything. I tried drawing along the wall edge and also along the existing roof edge. Nothing happened. I suspect I am making this more difficult than it is and once I figure it out I will be fine, but sheesh it has been a long and windy road trying to become adept at roofs.
  3. Hello, I spend HOURS trying all the different ways to get my roofs to draw "correctly" or at least how I think they should be drawn . I find floor plans extremely fun, but roofs are a huge struggle, with hours of frustration. I've watched several videos and walked through training guides. Does anyone have any wisdom they could share on manually creating decorative gable roofs, dormers, and maybe even a low-pitched roof with a curve on it over the doorway? The automatic roofs rarely look good so I have turned off the auto roofs in the defaults and must do everything manually. Screenshot for some examples of what I am trying to do - not exactly like this, but many of the elements such as the gable on the left side, the gabled dormers, the porch roof. I very much appreciate this forum! Thank you!!
  4. It looks like it may have been leftover from a camera in 3D view... nothing weird appears in the 3D view though I am going to close the topic, thanks for your help!
  5. The roof overhang is farther out than this, to the left, beyond the wall, but maybe it's something residual from an old roof or something like that. I'll play with it a little more, thank you for the response. On the room name - thank you, I missed the obvious, I will try not to do that again, and I really appreciate your help!!
  6. Hello, I have a weird/crooked dashed line remaining after I deleted a garage and created a carport (see attachment). I can't get to the lines to click on them and delete them. Any suggestions for how to do that? Or if I should not do it because they are important (I don't think they are, but I still consider myself pretty new at this). I am using HomeDesigner 2026. Also... bonus question - there is no Room Type designation for "Carport" so I used Porch and wrote in some text above to state Carport. I've love to do this correctly, is it possible to add a Room Type designation? Thanks!
  7. Thank you for sharing this valuable information!!!
  8. I fixed it! Part of the railing was missing but it wasn't obvious.
  9. Wow - thank you all, I got it working. It looks great! I drew the side porches and then used the Roof Plan tool to draw a roof line just in front of the porch and then pulled it back onto the main roof which gave me a shed roof and then worked with it for a long time until I got it to connect to the center porch roof and main house roof. One problem - the left column on the front of the main porch is too short. I have tried soooo many things to fix it - including deleting that railing and redrawing it, deleting that railing and then copying the one on the right and reflecting it over to the left - still too short. I can't figure out how to attach a plan but will attach a screen shot.
  10. Thank you for the offer! I went back to the main rectangular house and drew with gabled ends and slope in front and back. Added garage to back of house, but offset slightly from edge of house and put gabled end on it and it worked. Did the same thing with a back porch. I am still having problems with the front porch, but I think I just need to figure it out and get the hang of it. I do appreciate your willingness to help me! Let me see if I can get it the rest of the way. It's not incredibly intuitive, and like anything else, just need to spend the time to become proficient. If I can't get it by tomorrow I will get back to you for help. Thanks again!
  11. Ok, I started over completely and included the porches as exterior walls. Now I have multiple gables on the roof because I have multiple exterior walls. Could someone point me to some help specifically for roofs please? Thank you!
  12. Thank you!! I think this will work, but I need to delete the gable I have on the front of the main house before I added the porch. I think I should have built the whole thing together rather than in pieces. Like you said, need to do lots of playing around to figure it out. I will look for videos, but I think I am the one causing my own problems by trying to add the porch instead of building it from the start. Thanks again!!
  13. Hello, I just purchased the software so using Home Designer 2026. I was doing so well until the porch. If there is specific help for porches somewhere please point me in the right direction! I built a slab in front of the house, 7" below floor of house, for a step-down porch, but it's just a slab so I can't label it as a porch or put a roof over it. I tried using railings to build a porch on top of the slab, but it doesn't create a room, so I can't label it as a porch. I would like post and beam over the cement slab, with the gable roof in the middle of the front of the house extended forward to cover the porch. See screenshot for what I am trying to draw. Hope that makes sense, thanks in advance for your help!
